Girls’ Generation member Taeyeon is grieving the loss of her friend and collaborator, SHINee‘s Kim Jong-Hyun, better known as Jonghyun, who tragically died on Monday (December 18).

The 28-year-old star posted a heartbreaking letter written to Jonghyun on her Instagram on Tuesday (December 19), in which she openly mourned her friend.

“I want to hug you once more. That’s what I could’ve done but I hate myself for regretting like this after losing my chance,” she wrote.

“I miss you so much and I want to hold your hand.”

Taeyeon also canceled a fan event on Tuesday (December 19) following the news of Jonghyun‘s death.

BTS, Girls’ Generation, NCT and more Korean pop acts are paying their respects after the tragic death of SHINee‘s Kim Jong-Hyun, also known as Jonghyun, who was found collapsed on Monday (December 18).

The entertainers were spotted by news cameras arriving to the late singer’s wake. BoA and EXO also reportedly attended.

The four members of SHINee will reportedly be officiating Jonghyun‘s funeral ceremony in a role called “sang joo” (or “chief mourners”), which is traditionally held by the closest male relatives of the deceased. As Jonghyun did not have male siblings, the boy band is stepping up to act as his brothers.

SM Entertainment has also set up a separate memorial for fans.

“In accordance with his family’s wishes, we have set up a separate location for fans to remember and pay their final respects to Jonghyun, who has created many precious memories together….We ask that you send him warm thoughts, so that Jonghyun, the best artist, may be able to rest peacefully,” the agency announced in a statement on the group’s official message board.

Girls’ Generation member Taeyeon luckily did not sustain any major injuries after causing a three-car accident in South Korea on Tuesday evening (November 28).

The 28-year-old My Voice pop superstar was driving her Mercedes-Benz when she struck a taxi, which then hit another stopped car in front.

“Today at 7:40 p.m. [KST] in the area of Nonhyeon-dong, while attending to personal business, Taeyeon was involved in a car accident through her own careless driving. She is very apologetic towards the other drivers and passengers and will work diligently to resolve the post-accident matters. After dealing with the traffic accident, she has returned home safely without injuries. We apologize for having caused anxiety,” her agency SM Entertainment confirmed in a statement.

Police also confirmed the news to OSEN: “Taeyeon was very shaken up at the time of the accident. The other parties appeared to have just sustained minor injuries.”

Taeyeon herself spoke out on social media after a series of claims arose suggesting she received special treatment by emergency crew. Others claiming to be passengers suggested she did not apologize.

“I’m sorry for causing worry. I apologized to the taxi driver, but the others did not want my contact information. I’m letting you guys know because there have been several misunderstandings. I’ll be a bit more careful with driving in the future. I apologize for causing worry,” she wrote.
