Naya Rivera‘s ex-husband Ryan Dorsey is breaking his silence on the former Glee actress’ death.

It has been almost two weeks since Naya‘s body was found in Lake Piru after she went missing on July 8. She went out on the lake in a boat with her four-year-old son Josey that afternoon. Authorities believe that the lake’s currents made the boat drift away while they were swimming and she used all of her energy to get Josey back in the boat, then didn’t have enough energy to save herself.

Ryan took to Instagram on Saturday (July 25) to release a heartbreaking statement.

“This is so unfair…there’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s hearts. I can’t believe this is life now. I don’t know if I’ll ever believe it. You were just here… We were just in the back swimming with Josey the day before. Life just isn’t fair. I don’t know what to say…I’m thankful for our times and our journey that brought us together and gave us the sweetest and kindest smart little boy we could ever hope for,” Ryan said.

He continued, “I remember sometimes you used to get annoyed at me: ‘Ryan can you stop snap chatting!’ Haha. I’m glad I didn’t listen to you because I have hundreds and probably thousands of snaps and videos that Josey will have forever and know his momma loved him more than life, and how much fun we had together as he was growing up.”

“Life is all about good times and bad times but with Josey it makes the bad a little less so because a part of you will always be with us. He’ll never forget where he came from. We miss you. We will always love you. Love you Meep. 🖤💔🖤,” he said.

Amber Riley took to Instagram to share a tribute for the late Naya Rivera.

The 34-year-old actress played the role of Mercedes Jones on the hit Fox series Glee and she performed many duets with Naya during their time on the show.

“My favorite duet partner. I love you. I miss you. I don’t have words right now, just lots of feelings. Rest In Peace Angel, and know that your family will never have to worry about anything,” Amber wrote in her Instagram post.

Amber also shared a video of Naya singing the children’s song “Skidamarink” with her son Josey and it’s so heartbreaking to watch.

Investigators revealed the devastating way that they believe Naya died and what she did in her final moments was truly heroic.

Naya Rivera has been confirmed dead at the age of 33 after her body was discovered in Lake Piru, five days after she went missing.

The Glee actress went boating with her four-year-old son Josey on Wednesday (July 8) and he was later found alone in the boat that they had rented. He told authorities that they went swimming and his mom never got back on the boat.

During a press conference to announce Naya‘s death, the authorities said that it’s currently speculation, but they are working with the assumption that the boat drifted away in the lake’s current. The police believe that Naya used all of her energy to put her son back in the boat and she didn’t have enough energy to save herself.

Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said, “It would be speculation to say at this point. There are a lot of currents on the lake that appear particularly in the afternoon. We believe it was mid-afternoon when she disappeared, the idea perhaps being that the boat started drifting, it was unanchored, and that she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself.”

Ayub also said there is no sign of foul play and no indication that this was a suicide.

Shortly before the press conference happened, members of the cast of Glee visited the lake and held hands on the shore during a vigil for Naya.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has released CCTV video that shows Naya Rivera and her four-year-old son Josey arriving at Lake Piru.

“This is the recording from the security camera at the boat launch when Naya Rivera and her son arrived to rent a pontoon boat at Lake Piru. The video will show them departing the dock and travel north in the lake,” the office said in a statement in the YouTube description.

Naya went missing on Wednesday (July 8) while spending the afternoon in a pontoon boat with Josey. He told authorities that she went swimming and never returned to the boat.

The sergeant working on the case has revealed some distressing details about the search for Naya, including why the authorities are “confident” that her body is in the water.

Investigators believe the 33-year-old Glee actress “drowned in what appears to be a tragic accident,” according to the latest briefing from Ventura County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday (July 9).

As previously reported, the search at Lake Piru has turned into a recovery mission.

According to the newest report, the boat “was found drifting in the northern portion of the lake with the child alone and asleep onboard. Rivera’s son told investigators that he and his mother had been swimming in the lake, and he got back in the boat, but Rivera did not.”

The entire shoreline and surface of the lake were thoroughly searched on Wednesday (July 8), and divers also searched under water in the area where the boat had last been seen. The search was suspended at 10:00 pm due to zero visibility in the water and dangerous conditions for the divers, and resumed the following day.

Approximately 100 personnel are participating in the mission, including resources from neighboring counties and the United States Coast Guard.

“The boat was in an area estimated to be 30 feet deep with 15 feet visibility. Over 100 personnel are looking for Rivera, including helicopters, divers, boats and more. Swimming is permitted in the lake. No real undercurrent in the lake like in the ocean. The water can get cold and have hypothermic conditions, according to Sgt. Kevin Donoghue from @VENTURASHERIFF. Water and air searches will continue until dark tonight, Donoghue said,” according to journalist Jeremy Childs on the scene of the briefing.

They have also released the 911 call recording, in which it was reported Naya was missing.

Josey‘s father, Ryan Dorsey, rushed to his son’s side upon hearing the news.

The 36-year-old actor, who appeared on the TV shows Ray Donovan and Justified, reportedly rushed to his four-year-old son’s side after hearing about what happened.

Ryan‘s housemate told the Daily Mail that “Ryan headed up there as soon as their son was found to look after him. He was gone by the time I got home Wednesday.”

The housemate added, “Naya has been in LA working but I don’t know where she has been living. None of us know any more than what is being reported at this time. Naya hadn’t been in contact with him. She didn’t tell him what she was doing. He had no idea. It’s a horrible circumstance and we’re hoping for the best.”

Police say that Naya still has not been found and the search for her continues.

An eyewitness has revealed that they saw Naya Rivera and her four-year-old son Josey get on their rental boat at Lake Piru on Wednesday (July 8) just hours before she went missing.

“It was a beautiful day. It was comfortable weather and there were other pontoon boats in the water and even a water skier,” the eyewitness told ET. “She looked like any other mother with her son going out to enjoy the day.” The witness did not recall seeing Naya or her son again that day.
