Nick Jonas Starts Work on 'Jumanji' Sequel, Teases Secrets

Nick Jonas is returning for the Jumanji sequel and he just finished his first day on set!

The 26-year-old singer and actor took to social media to share a video he filmed after getting home from his first day of work on the movie.

“That’s a wrap on my first day back on Jumanji! So many secrets I wish I could share with you about this movie, but I’d get in big trouble if I did. But just know it’s going to be bigger and better than the last time. So good to be back with this amazing cast. I missed them, a lot,” Nick says in the clip.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black are all returning for the sequel, which hits theaters on December 13, 2019.

Great news – Nick Jonas is set to reprise his role in the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle!

Nick portrayed Alex/Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough, who had been stuck within Jumanji for 20 years before being discovered by The Rock and crew.

Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan, as well as the teens from the film, will all be returning and reprising their roles.

Awkwafina has also joined the cast of the film, set to be released on December 13, 2019.

'Jumanji' Teens Will Return for Upcoming Sequel!

The four actors who played the teenage characters in the movie Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle are returning for the upcoming sequel!

Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Morgan Turner, and Madison Iseman will reprise their roles in the upcoming film. The four characters they played morphed into the video game characters played by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black.

The plot of the sequel is being kept secret, but we do know that some exciting new additions to the cast include Awkwafina, Danny DeVito, and Danny Glover.

The movie will be released on December 13, 2019.

Awkwafina has joined the cast of the upcoming Jumanji sequel!

The 29-year-old actress, who had a breakout year in 2018 with Ocean’s Eight and Crazy Rich Asians, will join Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan in the film.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a smash hit in theaters and grossed $962 million worldwide. Jake Kasden is returning to direct the next film in the franchise.

While nothing is yet known about the plot for the sequel, Awkwafina‘s role is said to be “key” and “significant,” according to THR.

Jumanji 3 is officially happening and the studio has set a release date!

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced the news on his Instagram account.

“Officially planting our JUMANJI flag. On DECEMBER 13th, 2019 – the game is not over. I hold JUMANJI very close to my heart and I’m beyond grateful you made our movie into the global juggernaut ($1BILLION+) it became,” he wrote. “Can’t wait for you to see what our new adventure & new characters have in store as Christmas comes early. And once again, I get to slap @kevinhart4real’s lip’s into next week. The world is happy.”

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is getting a sequel and it officially has a release date!

It was just announced that the follow up to the super successful Dwayne Johnson flick will be hitting theaters in December 2019.

“I’d bet on seeing Dwayne Johnson in theaters again in December 2019. Don’t rush to give all those screens to Star Wars. Come on, fair’s fair,” Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group chairman Tom Rothman said at CinemaCon.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was one of the most successful films in Sony’s history, grossing more than $956 million at the worldwide box office after being release in late 2017.

'Jumanji' Enjoys Another Weekend at Top of Box Office!

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is still the number one movie in the country!

The film, starring The Rock and Kevin Hart, brought in an additional $11 million this weekend in its seventh week at the box office. The movie has grossed over $350 million so far, and is still enjoying lots of movie theater traffic, despite the fact that it has been in theaters for weeks.

Dylan O’Brien‘s Maze Runner: The Death Cure came in second place at the box office this weekend with $10.2 million earned.

Rounding out the top five movies at the box office this weekend were Winchester, The Greatest Showman, and Hostiles, which earned $9.2, $7.8, and $5.5 million, respectively.
