This 19-Year-Old Swimmer Beat Michael Phelps' 18-Year Record

We’re exactly one year away from the start of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and here’s someone you can expect to be a big star at the games.

19-year-old swimmer Kristof Milak from Hungary just beat a world record that was set by Michael Phelps, 18 years ago!

Kristof broke the world record for the 200m fly at the world championship game on Wednesday (July 24) in Gwangju, South Korea.

Michael previously set the record in 2001 at the age of 15. He went on to break his own record several times throughout his career. Kristof‘s final time was 1:50.73, which is 0.78 seconds faster than Michael‘s most recent record, set in 2009.

“It’s a tremendous honor to beat such a great men’s world record. When I turned back and I saw the time, 1:50.73? All the pressure and tension just went off my back and all the joy came out,” Milak said (via CBS).
