Julie Chen Adds 'Moonves' to Her Last Name on 'Big Brother'

Julie Chen made a bold move at the end of the Big Brother live episode on Thursday (September 13) by signing off with her married name, days after husband Leslie Moonves was ousted as CEO of CBS.

The longtime host of Big Brother took a break from television this week after her husband left his job at CBS following allegations of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and violence.

Julie is taking a leave of absence from her daily talk show The Talk, but she returned to Big Brother to host the double eviction episode.

At the end of the episode, Julie signed off by saying, “From outside the Big Brother house, I’m Julie Chen Moonves, good night.”

Julie usually signs off by saying, “I’m Julie Chen,” so it’s clear that she is standing by her husband with this statement.

COO Joseph Ianniello will serve as president and acting CEO while the board conducts a search for a permanent replacement.

Earlier on the same day, The New Yorker published a piece by Ronan Farrow which featured six more women coming forward with allegations.

“The appalling accusations in this article are untrue. What is true is that I had consensual relations with three of the women some 25 years ago before I came to CBS. And I have never used my position to hinder the advancement or careers of women. In my 40 years of work, I have never before heard of such disturbing accusations,” he said in response to those allegations.

Earlier in the summer, wife Julie Chen came out in support of her husband amid initial allegations of sexual harassment.

CBS also says $20 million will be donated on his and the network’s behalf to an organization that supports #MeToo, which is set to be made immediately. The money will come from severance benefits owed to Leslie following a pending investigation into his alleged misconduct.

Julie Chen Doubles Down on Support for Leslie Moonves Amid Allegations

Julie Chen is reiterating her support for husband and CBS CEO Leslie Moonves amid allegations of sexual harassment.

On CBS’ The Talk on Monday (July 30), Julie opened the show by looking directly into the camera and saying, “Some of you may be aware of what has been going on in my life for the past few days. I have issued the one and only statement I will ever make on this topic on Twitter.”

Julie added, “And I will stand by that statement today, tomorrow, forever.”

Julie Chen Supports Husband Leslie Moonves After Sexual Harassment Accusations

Julie Chen is defending her husband Leslie Moonves after several women accused him of sexual misconduct.

In a new investigation published by Ronan Farrow, six women over several decades were reportedly harassed by Leslie, including forcible touching or kissing during business meetings.

Leslie responded to the allegations, apologizing for ever making any women uncomfortable.

“I recognize that there were times decades ago when I may have made some women uncomfortable by making advances. Those were mistakes, and I regret them immensely. But I always understood and respected — and abided by the principle — that ‘no’ means ‘no,’ and I have never misused my position to harm or hinder anyone’s career,” Leslie said in part of his statement.

Julie also responded to defend her husband, writing, “I have known my husband, Leslie Moonves, since the mid-90s, and I have been married to him for almost 14 years. Leslie is a good man and loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader. He has always been a kind, decent and moral human being. I fully support my husband and stand behind him and his statement.”
