Matt Amodio Ends Winning Streak on 'Jeopardy!'; Loses After 38-Games

Matt Amodio has wrapped up his time on Jeopardy!

The 30-year-old Ph.D. student came in third in tonight’s show, airing on Monday, October 11.

“I always wanted to be a Jeopardy! champion, and I accomplished that,” Matt shared in a statement via Variety. “l know going into every bar trivia game that I play that I’m going to come in with a little intimidation factor. But also, I just like the badge that it represents. As somebody who prioritizes knowledge and knowing things, this is really a good one to have following me everywhere.”

Matt had been on a 38-game winning streak and earned over 1.5 million dollars during his tenure.

As for records set, Matt has the number two spot for all-time consecutive wins rankings, and sits in third place for the most winnings during regular-season play.

The final clue was in the category “Countries of the World” and the clue was “Nazi Germany annexed this nation and divided it into regions of the Alps and the Danube; the Allies later divided it into four sectors.”

Matt had guessed Poland, while the correct answer was Austria.

Jonathan Fisher won the game with a winning total of $29,200.
