Julia Roberts: 'Eat, Pray, Love' Premiere with Javier Bardem!

Julia Roberts hits the red carpet with co-star Javier Bardem at the premiere of Eat, Pray, Love at NYC’s Ziegfeld Theatre on Tuesday (August 10).

The 42-year-old actress and her co-star apparently were at ease with each other right away! “The moment I was on the set with her (Roberts), I felt really relaxed,” Javier told the Vancouver Sun.

“That’s enormous value, for any actor, to feel you’re working with somebody who’s creative, intelligent, and generous, but also makes you part of the journey,” he added.

Glee creator Ryan Murphy directed the film – and Brad Pitt produced!

FYI: Julia‘s blazer is made by Stella McCartney. She paired it with Me & Ro Jewelry, Roger Vivier sandals and DVF shorts and Coomi bangles.

She looks great. I’m sure she has had a little filler but I think it’s from being rich and never having a worry in the world.

  • rock

I don’t like the mini on her but they look cute together.

  • Katsaridoula

This movie will be a pass for me, sounds like its about a self-obsessed woman, “look at me me me, poor me me me”. I heard somewhere that it’s all about the self pitying Elizabeth Gilbert, that even the countries she went to start with the letter “I”: India, Italy Indonesia….I also heard that the book is lame and boring with no substance to it….

  • http://. Blue

Her legs are to long a skinny for that mini.

some extracts from readers’ reviews of the book Eat Pray whatever…on…interesting…

….This is supposed to be a journey to fight the ego. However, we find nothing but long descriptions of how she feels, and why, and events that happened to her… It’s too self-centered, I’d say….

…..Very boring indeed and I usually love books but I found this author talked too much about herself and not about anything else interesting for the readers…..

…..It’s very rare for me not to finish a book and usually read books quite quickly, but I am getting so bored with this one that I am considering getting rid of it…

…..I was half asleep through India, I’m afraid. And found the I-I-I me-me-me approach tedious. Average woman, living average life goes travelling and navel gazes. If she had turned the attention away from her wallowing self and travelled to, say, Iraq, or Somalia, or Afghanistan, rolled up her sleeves and got her hands dirty, not by scrubbing floors, but by helping others ‘find themselves’ and rebuild their lives – now THAT would be a book worth reading! ….

Oh FYI, there are some reviews of the movie:

    By Jessica Walker

I was very fortunate last week to be invited to an early preview of the movie Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia staring Julia Roberts due out August 13th. I will refrain from spewing the details but I do have to say… FINALLY A GREAT MOVIE! The casting was spot on. All the actors truly embodied their characters and the connection between each of them was effortless. The scenery was astonishing — no better word than that — each country was beautifully depicted. If I had a private jet at my disposal I would be writing this post from Bali right now.

I did not read the book but I heard from several ladies at the preview that the movie was actually better than the book. After further discussion with these ladies, I learned that if I had read the book I would have had a lot of my questions answered. For example, I was wondering the whole time how the heck did the author of the book, Elizabeth Gilbert, pay for all this traveling? Come to find out the answer is literally in the book.

I do feel the need to warn our male readers as this movie is totally a chick flick. But, if you are looking to score some brownie points than I highly recommend you tough it out. It will be worth it in the end, I promise!

To the ladies reading this, I am very confident that you will enjoy every minute of this flick. To me this movie was nourishment for the soul. It reminded me that the one constant relationship in life is the relationship with ourselves. If that relationship is broken, bruised or battered than we will be unable to work on any other relationship around us. Hopefully we can all learn to clear out our minds and open the doorway that will allow the universe to rush in.

    GO Julia…gorgeous!

I can’t ever look at Eat, Pray, Love, without thinking of the South Park parody Eat, Pray, Queef.

  • Sammie

Ugh! I can’t STAND Julia Roberts!
If I have to see the commercial for this stupid movie with her obnoxious laugh, I’m going to PUKE!
I hope this and every other movie she is in Flops!
    She is just awful.

  • J.

Julia is a mean hatful Diva.
I know people that have worked with her & they all say she is the biggest b!tc# ever.

  • Bionic

Knowing all the stupid women out there that eat up whatever Julia Roberts and corporate America spoon feed them, I’m sure this ridiculous “movie” will be a big hit.
    Eat up sheep! Eat up!

  • Kate

A move about a self-obsessed woman with a huge ego??
Sounds like perfect casting, This could be a documentary for that Julia woman

  • squee

Squee I love thiese ttravelogue type movies because I love to travel. This reminds me of Sideways, and Frances Mayes’ Under The Tuscan Sun which I loved. I will be seeing Eat Pray Love even though I didn’t read the book.

  • Alexis

I love Javier!! he looks so hot. And Julia looks gorgeous as well, can’t wait to see the movie.. SO STOKED.

  • Lilly

I cannot stand diva Julia Roberts but I will go and see this.
I could not get through the book, I tried but it was so boring and not very well written. Maybe the movie will do it justice.
Her legs, btw are awful, always have been.
I love Javier and love his wedding ring to the beautiful and talented Penelope.
Julia is a nasty celeb to her fans. Always has been.
Her Letterman appearance last week proves how annoying she can be.

  • Flo

I would have seen the movie if that ego maniac Julia Roberts wasn’t in it.
Just the Tv ad alone makes me hate her even more.

  • carolynn

They look so nice and I can’t wait to see this wonderful film
    I heard it is BEAUTIFUL!

    kudos Mr. Pitt.

  • Meg

@Lilly: Why go see a movie about a book you hated starring a one trick pony diva like Julia? Just wait till the DVD comes out, why waste good money on trash like this?

  • Nancy

How is a movie about a self obsessed woman, Starring a self obsessed horse face diva sound “Beautiful”?
Umm, yeah, I’ll pass on all accounts! But I’m sure a bunch of girls will flock to the theater because they feel they have to.

  • well

sounds like Fickle Females have landed, wonder why? oh that’s right. but, but she loves Venice sooo much and gets no sleep, bwhaha…ja will never stop bunnyboiling

Julia & Javier & all look so great.
    What legs Ms. America’s Sweetheart

  • hmm

She’s wearing a blazer over shorts not a mini skirt. Read the description of the thread

  • shamrock7

Love the book, recommend reading it to all of you interested in the film.

Also, Julia Roberts is a CLASS ACT and one of my fave actresses in the business!! She is like a female version of Paul Newman, Robert Redford in my opinion. She is the most refreshing as well, you rarely see her in the tabloids world. Very private!! Love her:)

  • irene

OMG she has a vein in her forehead in pic 2 !!!!
Funny how she is not criticized because of it.

  • Brightside

What a beautiful thing to say about a work colleague. I can picture Julia being great to work with plus, for forty two, she looks incredibly good without looking like she’s had the life botoxed out of her face…as some older actresses are known to do.

  • Prairiegirl

sure you do (know people that worked with Julia Roberts) but you can’t spell. That was worth writing wasn’t it?

  • Brightside

If you don’t like the lead actress and you found the book so boring that you couldn’t finish it, then why go see the film, you muppet! Wait ’till you can borrow it on dvd! That way, if you don’t like it, you haven’t wasted any money!
I shall be happy to pony up and watch Julia…she’s always been a class act and I’ve enjoyed many of her films in the past.

  • Mimi

OMG! She looks STUNNING! Simply STUNNING! I love her so much!!! Look at those legs! :O So jealous! Julia, you rock!!! :)

  • Catsup

I always liked JR in fact she was a fav. But when that crap was going on and JR wore the Tee shirt with LOW VERA written across the chest
meant for her new b/f was was still married to a woman named Vera
and this Vera person did not want to divorce her husband Danny Moulder and now since Julia Roberts walked into the picture saying’ ‘I want Danny. Bad Vera. All i can say is her marriage better be happy
b/c she showed her true colors, got what she wanted even promised Danny Moulders parents she would marry him AND HAVE HIS CHILDREN. ALL IS DONE but what a big stink she made ontill she got what she wanted. That’s what i call manstealing. Even Danny Moulder was not sure of what to do or if he was going to be another in the FRONT door out the bACKDOOR KIND OF GUY TO HER.. aPPARENTLY SHE GOT ON HER HANDS AND KNEEES TO HIM.

btw…I won’t be seeing the movie.

  • jen

Read the book and liked it a lot, except for some minor parts but nevertheless thought it was good. Will definitely see this for Javier Bardem and the fact that it’s about travel. Julia I don’t care for that much but I do think she looks great at the premiere, fantastic legs.

  • Iffy Miffy

@Brightside: She stopped being a ‘class act’ after that horrible, horrible stunt with the t-shirt. Showed off her true self there. This of course, is separate from her as an actress but still, no need to prop her up on a throne of moral virtue when she is anything but that.

  • Meg

Ewwwwww…do not like her, never have. Won’t see it, but I would love to see the locales where it is filmed, but I can look at the internet for that. The song they play during the previews? Yeah, I used to love that song, now it is ruined for me. Damn.

  • no reviews

sorry – why aren’t there any reviews for this movie? A big star. A big book it’s based no. Great visuals – and NO reviews? What? hmmm, I smell something fishy.

  • voe

Gosh her upper lip gets so big now. Nice legs but is she 25?

  • purple poet

She looks uncomfortable in that outfit. Trying to pull a Gwyneth and draw attention to her legs perhaps?

Apparently she was being a stuck up diva at the after party to this premiere and refused to be near any regular people saying “that’s so tacky” and went upstairs and separated herself with her own little party. America’s Sweethearts are usually not sweethearts I notice. Reese WItherspoon is a control freak, Katherine Heigl is rude, Meg Ryan takes herself too seriously, and Julia Roberts is arrogant and self absorbed. Anyone remember that Family Guy joke of her “ME ME ME!! MUAHAHAH!” So accurate. lol.

  • purple poet

@shamrock7: She is NOT the female Paul Newman or Robert Redford. Jodie Foster and Michelle Pfeiffer would qualify as that. Julia is not great at acting, is a homewrecker, she is very stuck up and arrogant and has no class.

  • nazarena

    she’s perfect, busters.

  • to ohyeah

Eat, Drink, Pray, then shut the hell up you homewrecking man stealing ho bag.
for god sakes!! give it a rest, will you. first off, anyone with half a brain can tell you that a man will not stay with a woman he doesn’t want to be with. julia could not have taken daniel moder away from his first wife if he didn’t want to leave in the first place. secondly, this all happened 9 years ago.

  • Iffy Miffy

@to ohyeah: True, in so much that she couldn’t have stolen him. Men are not property. You can’t steal them. What was totally unacceptable when it comes to Julia was that whole t-shirt fiasco. There she showed her true colours. As for how long ago it was – doesn’t really matter, you are who you are.
