'Fifty Shades of Grey' Producer: Newcomer Would Be Best for Christian Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey producer Michael De Luca chatted about the movie on the red carpet at the Hollywood Film Awards before accepting a film making prize on Monday evening (October 21) in Beverly Hills, Calif, stating he feels a newcomer would be best in the role of Christian Grey!

“I feel like everyone has an idea of what these characters look like and sound like, so to present the world with fresh faces — where no pre-conceived notions or baggage come with it — is best,” Michael told the LA Times. “It’s like casting Superman or James Bond. A fresh face is appropriate.”

They just figured this out now? Even I’m not familiar with the book and I know whats best for this now over hyped movie that wont deliver.

Just admit that making this movie would be a major mistake. No one of any caliber wants to perform in it, and no one with half a brain wants to see it. Give it a rest!

Only a newcomer can do this without destroying his credibility.

As long as it’s not Scott Eastwood. Jaimie Doornan guy is good.

America has never even heard of this british waste-of-time junk, so who gives a crap.

LOL – comparing this drivel to Superman or James Bond. After Matt Bomer declined their offer then 3rd choice Charlie bolted, I guess it was clear the best was not interested.

They need to fire the author. $he thinks she’s queen. Normally authors don’t have so much pull in a book-turned movie but this one does for some reason??? I’m not surprised at all the sh.it that is coming from this project. It should just stay a book.

    Ha Says:

Enough already! Can they just stop talking about it and make it a surprise!? No seriously, find a newcomer, do the movie and then BAM release it all of a sudden. That way maybe it’ll be a success…. I mean, I didn’t know (never heard) of Twilight before it came out as a film. Look how big it was. Maybe that’s the right thing to do? Just my humble opinion!

    @rdh:
I totally agree, plus no one of any repute wants to work with that dirty director either.
    It would be career suicide.

Only a unknown would want to be in this Sh!t show *barf*

Then they should’ve cast someone new and fresh faced for Ana’s role too! Dakota Johnson isn’t a newcomer, she just isn’t well known because she sucks. I’m so over this. I’m sticking to the books. Dakota just ruins it as it is.

    Jessie Says:

Yeah, cast someone new and fresh face because no decent established actor wants to do it. A new fresh face doesn’t have anything to lose. It took these people this long to figure it out? By the time the make the film people will be tired of hearing about it and if it’s not R rated they might as well not make it.

  17. 17
    Nadine Says:

That’s because no known actor would take the role. They run from it like a plague.

  18. 18
    Sara Says:

Scott Eastwood is the only one rumored that actually looks like Christian is described, but casting someone so perfect for Christian now that they’ve cast someone way off the mark for Ana, would just look weird. We’d have a perfect Christian and a dumpy Ana Therefore, as long as Dakota is on, this is ruined. Ugh.

JOSH BUTTON…dr pepper yes yes yes

    Olga Says:

@Reece: Not true. The ones actually declined the role were Ryan Gosling, Garret Hedlund and Robert Pattinson. Matt Bomer was never taken into consideration by the studio.

    Mmmm Says:

What he really means is that NO A list actors are interested in the role as they know it would ruin their reputation.

It sold 60 million copies, the best selling book of all time. That’s why.
