Surfing Legend Laird Hamilton Rescues Surfer in Malibu (Video)

Laird Hamilton helps a man back to shore after a lifesaving moment on Wednesday morning (August 27) in Malibu, Calif.

The 50-year-old surfing legend rushed into the water to help a man who had lost his board amid unusually strong waves in the area.

“He was happy. He was thankful. His eyes were big and he was appreciative that he was back on the land,” Laird told ABC News following the big rescue. Watch the video interview below!

“He got swept, just got swept down towards the rocks, and then another surfer ran out. Laird grabbed his fins, swam out to him and brought him back in,” an eyewitness added.

Good thing Laird was there to come to the rescue!
