Oscars 2016: Two Original Song Performances Not Happening
Two of the nominees in the Best Original Song category will not be showcased with performances at the 2016 Academy Awards later this month.
The two songs not getting airtime will be “Manta Ray,” performed by singer-songwriter J. Ralph and co-written by Antony Hegarty for the documentary Racing Extinction, and “Simple Song #3,” performed by Sumi Jo and written by composer David Lang for the movie Youth.
The reason for the exclusion from the broadcast is because of “time constraints,” according to Variety.
Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, and The Weeknd will all get to perform their nominated songs during the broadcast. Foo Fighters‘ Dave Grohl will also be giving a special performance during the show.
