'Sex and the City' Author Candace Bushnell Regrets Choosing Career Over Having Children

Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell is opening up about feeling “truly alone.”

The 60-year-old author – who wrote 1997 novel that the hit HBO series was based off of – revealed in a new interview that she regrets focusing on her career and not having a family.

“When I was in my 30s and 40s, I didn’t think about it,” Candace shared with Sunday Times Magazine. “Then when I got divorced and I was in my 50s, I started to see the impact of not having children and of truly being alone. I do see that people with children have an anchor in a way that people who have no kids don’t.”

In 2012, Candace divorced ballet dancer Charles Askegard after 10 years of marriage. Later on in the interview, Candace claims the split caused her to go five years without sex.

“It’s not that long when you get to my age,” Candace added. “I know women who have gone longer.”

Candace Bushnell is now dating real estate agent Jim Coleman is preparing to release her new book “Is There Still Sex in the City?” in August.
