Here's What Shia LaBeouf Said in Response to FKA twigs' Lawsuit Against Him

Shia LaBeouf is being sued by his ex-girlfriend FKA twigs for “relentless” abuse and sexual battery.

In the lawsuit, the 32-year-old musician detailed some of the alleged incidents that he put her through during their relationship. The lawsuit accuses Shia of sexual battery, assault and infliction of emotional distress.

After being contacted by The New York Times this week for a response to the lawsuit, Shia confirmed that he has been abusive to both himself and “everyone” around him for years.

“I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say,” Shia said in an email to the Times.

When presented with a more detailed account of the claims, he said in another email that “many of these allegations are not true,” but he owed the women “the opportunity to air their statements publicly and accept accountability for those things I have done.”

He also said he was “a sober member of a 12-step program” and in therapy.

“I am not cured of my PTSD and alcoholism, but I am committed to doing what I need to do to recover, and I will forever be sorry to the people that I may have harmed along the way.”

Shia has been arrested several times in the past on charges that have since been dismissed, including assault and disorderly conduct, according to newspaper reports and public records.
