Leslie Odom Jr. Hints at What Fans Can Expect From 'Knives Out 2'

Leslie Odom Jr. is opening up about his role in Knives Out 2!

The 39-year-old actor and singer spoke with ET on Sunday (May 23) about his role in the upcoming sequel and what fans can look forward to from the movie.

“I might have said too much already, but suspect everyone is what I can tell you,” Leslie said. “It’s going to be fun. I think that the first movie… the success was unexpected, the Oscar nomination certainly, and people really took to it. So we want to up the ante and deliver something exciting and surprising for the fans.”

The actor added that he’s read the script “many times” and is “deep” in his analysis of his character, adding that director Rian Johnson had really upped the ante for the second film.

“Rian‘s trying to challenge himself,” he said. “… It’s like a Swiss watch. It’s like clockwork. This has to happen, for that to happen, for that to happen.”

Leslie didn’t share any major spoilers about the project, but he did say he’s hoping his character gets a chance to wear Chris Evans‘ “iconic” cable knit sweater from the first movie.

The sequel features an all-star cast that includes Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monae, Dave Bautista, and Edward Norton, as well as returning star Daniel Craig.

“It’s been a whirlwind,” Leslie said of the casting process for the film. “The call just came in, like, two weeks ago, so we’re trying to find nannies and we’re trying to find a place to stay and all that, but I’m excited.”

The movie is set to debut on Netflix and is expected to start shooting in Greece this summer.
