Jared Padelecki Talks Dean Becoming a Stars Hollow Townie

Jared Padalecki is opened up about the evolution of his Gilmore Girls fan-favorite character, Dean Forester.

The 34-year-old actor says that he went from a big city kid to a Stars Hollow townie.

“I do think very truly that maybe as I started to portray Dean more and more, they realized that my take on his character was maybe a bit more small town-y,” Jared told EW. “But I do feel like he kind of warped.”

He continued, “Moving to this very, very small town from a big city, maybe he puffed his chest a little bit, played the outsider, the badass. And then as he started to live in Stars Hollow even more, he realized that he was comfortable there and could just be himself and be a little bit more low key and didn’t have to intimidate and act like the loner James Dean-type.”

Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles Do 'CSI: Miami' Impression at EW PopFest! (Video)

Jared Padalecki puts his arm around his Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles while attending Entertainment Weekly’s PopFest held at The Reef on Saturday (October 29) in Los Angeles.

During their panel, the two actors touched on a variety of topics, including the possibility of any characters returning to the series.

One fan asked, “Now that Lucifer has gotten out, do you think there’s a chance that Michael [the eldest archangel] could be let out?”

“I think one of the great things that the showrunners and the writers have done over the years is that they have brought back some of these fan-favorite characters,” Jensen responded. “And some of our favorite characters. We are the faces of the show, but we’re also fans of the show.”

He added, “When you have a really good character, and not just that but a really good, talented person playing that character, getting them to come back is always a treat for us, and I feel like it’s a nice little treat for you guys, as well. I will say there are plans this season to bring back a few of those, so stay tuned.”

The highlight of the panel, though, might have been the guys’ CSI: Miami impression! Jensen provided the theme music while Jared spun around and said, “It’s time to pop.” Watch below!

Supernatural's Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, & Misha Collins Do First Magazine Photo Shoot Together!

Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins pose for a photo featured in Rogue magazine‘s new issue and provided first to JustJared.com!

This is the first time that the three hunky stars of Supernatural have posed for an editorial photo shoot together. Here is what they shared with the mag:

Jensen on how their attitudes on set changed over time: “We used to think that being silly onset, cracking up during a scene and that kind of thing, was being really unprofessional. We would make efforts to stop messing with each other. But now we take the time to enjoy laughing about something stupid. I think it’s really important to make each other laugh. All of us will be on set just in tears laughing way too often. We could literally put out an entire DVD package of just bloopers, it would be hours long.”

Jared on how their lives changed together: “When Jensen and I met, we thought we had the world by the balls and we found out together that we really did not. I’ve seen him fall in love, get engaged then get married and now become a father, and he’s seen me do the same. We’ve seen the same with Misha. This show’s been a wonderful opportunity to really explore so many facets of a character, but also to see each other grow and I think it’s one of the few shows that’s been able to reflect that. We’re not young boys anymore, we are fathers and husbands and friends–we’ve seen birth and death and everything in between. I think there is a little bit of that camaraderie that’s reflected on the screen.”
