John Mayer Quit Drinking & Just Smokes Weed Now

John Mayer is taking a break from alcohol.

The 39-year-old singer recently opened up about why he prefers to stick to marijuana.

“I put it where drinking used to go, and the quality of life has gone up considerably,” John told Rolling Stone. “Drinking is a f-cking con. How much is enough? Every time I drank, I was looking for some sort of regulated amount. It always feels wrong for me. I always feel like I went overboard. ‘I said two, now it’s three, now we’re at four?’ I never had a serious issue with it, but I remember looking around going, “This feels rigged. I’m taking a break. There’s never an amount that felt like I was succeeding at life. It always felt wrong.”

“I was always the guy saying that I didn’t like altered states,” he added. “Once you know who you are, then it becomes OK. I’m much more open-minded to small changes in consciousness. I remember every trip I ever took. I remember every thought I ever had when I laid there.”

In case you missed it, John also opened up about his ex Katy Perry‘s sex ranking of him.

John Mayer Responds to Katy Perry's Sex Ranking Of Him

John Mayer is speaking out about his ex Katy Perry‘s comments on his skills in the bedroom.

In case you missed it, she recently ranked the 39-year-old “Gravity” singer first out of her other two ex-boyfriends, Orlando Bloom and Diplo, when it comes to sex.

“They’re all amazing lovers and I want to have sex with all of them when I get out of this place,” Katy also said.

John played it coy when he was asked about it.

“I don’t have a cool-enough thought for you,” John told Rolling Stone. “I’ve hacked this game. I pay very little of the price of fame now. I get to play the music that moves me the most. I’m having the time of my life. I’m 39 – I remember 32. I don’t wanna do it again.”

Katy and John dated for several years until 2015.

“This was me coming off the idea of, ‘Gimme a solo! I gotta show them I can play,’” John told RollingStone about the song. “There are two guitars happening through most of the song, this way your attention splits up the middle and there’s just a vibe. That’s where learning all those Dead songs comes in a bit, because it brought me into the world of ensemble guitars.”

“The end has a jam out,” John added. “If I’d had to finish this song a year ago, it wouldn’t have this ending. This ending is me coming back to it two years later and going, ‘I’ve moved on, so it gets a happy ending.’”
