Mariah Carey News, Pictures, and Videos
Nick Cannon makes an appearance on The Ellen Show, airing later today, where he speaks about a variety of topics including wearing a turban, his recent hospitalization, his upcoming baby boy, and Mariah‘s New Year’s Eve performance.
“You know me, I’m a conspiracy theorist. I think the government did that!” Nick joked about Mariah‘s performance. “They set her up! That was a distraction!”
“Anyone who knows about performing and having inner-ears, things like that can go wrong on live television…I screw up on America’s Got Talent all the time. So when there’s people in your ear saying things and stuff, I think she got a little flustered,” Nick said. “Being the diva that she is, she said, ‘I’m just going to walk around and pose for 7 minutes.’ And like Ryan Seacrest said, she can do no wrong. So she worked through it.”
FYI: Nick is wearing a Tribe Kelley tee and Timberland x Foot Locker boots.

The 46-year-old entertainer took to her Twitter on Sunday (January 8) to share an audio recording explaining her thoughts on her performance.
“I haven’t really addressed the situation that happened on New Year’s Eve and in time, I will. But for now, I want everyone to know that I came to New Year’s Eve in New York in great spirit and was looking forward to a celebratory moment with the world. It’s a shame that we were put into the hands of a production team with technical issues, who chose to capitalize on circumstances beyond our control,” Mariah began.
She went on to explain that factors such as the cold temperature, loud crowds and faulty ear pieces set her up to fail.
Mariah added, “Listen guys, they foiled me. Thus, it turned into an opportunity to humiliate me and all those who were excited to ring in the new year with me. …I cannot deny that my feelings are hurt, but I’m working through this and I’m truly grateful for my fans and my true friends who have been so supportive in this time.”
She also stated that she plans to take a break from the media and social media but will continue to fulfill her profession obligations.

The 67-year-old former head of Sony Music Entertainment was married to Mariah from 1993 to 1998. He is telling people to back off his ex-wife as this could have happened to anyone, but he doesn’t have the same kind words for her team.
“MC is arguably the greatest pop voice to come along in the last three decades. She has had more number one hits than any pop artist in history!!! She is a global icon and a treasure with incredible talent not only as a singer but as a great songwriter. What happened on NYE could’ve happened to anyone!” Tommy said in a letter sent to Page Six. “Yes, her technical people should’ve helped pay more attention to all of it so that there was no chance of that happening.”

Ryan Seacrest, who was center stage for much of the night as host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2017, is speaking out about Mariah Carey‘s New Year’s Eve performance, where she claims she was sabotaged by producers.
“It is difficult to perform in Times Square,” Ryan said during his radio show today. “[Carey] knows what Times Square is about. It’s complicated. Imagine every single TV outlet in the world was there. So, there’s all kinds of technical things going on.”
“Things happen on live TV,” he continued. “If something goes wrong, it’s unfortunate for anybody….I know this team of producers. I’ve known these guys for years. I knew Dick Clark very, very well. This is a team that wants to do everything they can to accommodate any artist. They and we are in the business of wanting people to look good!”
“Believe me, tricky things, tough things that can happen, happen on live television,” Ryan said. “It’s just unfortunate that it comes to all of this, because it’s a night of celebration and a night of fun.”
Mariah‘s rep recently slammed Dick Clark producers again for the way the entire day and evening were handled.
