Mark co-moderated the event with director Josh Fox, and Shailene shared her thoughts on stage alongside fellow activists Tokato Iron Eyes, Cody Two Bears, and Chase Iron Eyes, as well as author Deepak Chopra and playwright Eve Ensler.
“Everything we have to do has to be interconnected,” Mark told the crowd regarding moving forward with the recent Dakota Access pipeline decision.
“denying the easement at #standingrock is a huge leap in the right direction,” Shailene wrote on Instagram. “but we must guarantee no one in this presidential term or the incoming one decides to reinstall the pipeline. if there is no $ invested, there is no fight to begin with. early january 2017 will be HUGE for the banks… let’s make sure we put our $ where our mouths are and DIVEST! and if you’re in #nyc, come #standwithstandingrock tomorrow and Thursday!!! #NoDAPL #uptous #dakotaaccesspipeline #bankexit #divest.”
