America Ferrera speaks onstage at the Half the Sky: A Special Presentation of Independant Lens panel during day 2 of the PBS portion of the 2012 Summer TCA Tour held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (July 22) in Los Angeles.

The 28-year-old actress was joined by Diane Lane and Meg Ryan, who travel the world in the documentary to examine how women and girls are treated in other countries.

“For me, I spent most of my time with some of the younger girls… and not a lot of them had actually seen anything I’d been in because they don’t really have exposure to that. Their mothers certainly had no idea who I was,” America said (via Access Hollywood).

John announced his separation from his wife of 18 years, Elaine, late last year. Meg split with husband Dennis Quaid back in 2001 after 10 years of marriage.

People notes that while John and Meg have been dating since before he announced his split from his wife, the two had actually been separated for some time.

The 48-year-old actress renovated and decorated the home with the help of Satinwood, a Bedford, New York interior design firm. “I feel like I’ve been renovating houses my whole life,” Meg shared. “I’ve renovated apartments, lofts, a log cabin in Montana. I’m constantly ripping pages out of magazines in search of inspiration.”

“Meg wanted someone to bounce ideas off and to find things for her,” Satinwood’s Marsha Russell said. “But she’s the visionary on this project. She has a wonderful aesthetic and a great eye.”
