Good news, Serial fans – it’s coming back, and soon!

The popular podcast is set to return for a second season later this year according to an email sent to subscribers.

“We are hard at work reporting not one, but two distinct new stories,” the email reads (via Deadline). “As it stands, we intend to launch Season Two this fall and Season Three next spring. Sorry – we can’t tell you details about the new stories yet. What we can say is that they’re very different from Season One, but no less interesting to us.”

In case you don’t know, the first season was narrated by Sarah Koenig and covered the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee and the subsequent legal case of her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed, who is currently serving a life sentence.

Serial is the podcast that has been taking the world by storm over the past few months and now, Jay Wilds, one of the key suspects at the center of the mystery is speaking out for the first time.

The podcast follows the murder of Hae Min Lee, an 18-year-old high school student in Baltimore who went missing and was found a month later dead in a nearby park. Her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed was found guilty of murdering her and is currently serving a life sentence.

Jay Wilds, a former classmate of Adnan‘s, was the key witness in the case and without his testimony, it would have been virtually impossible to bring his friend to trial.

Now for the first time, Jay is speaking out about Serial, for which he declined to be formally interviewed. He says he was “unfairly depicted by [host and producer Sarah] Koenig and that she painted a highly misleading portrayal of him and his role in the case.”

Six weeks later detectives arrest her classmate and ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, for her murder. He says he’s innocent – though he can’t exactly remember what he was doing on that January afternoon. But someone can. A classmate at Woodlawn High School says she knows where Adnan was. The trouble is, she’s nowhere to be found.”
