Queen Camilla is set to formally ascend the throne alongside her husband King Charles on Saturday (May 6), and she’ll do so with several members of her family by her side.

If you were unaware, the Queen was previously married and had two children when she and the King exchanged vows in 2005.

At that point, Prince William and Prince Harry became her stepsons, and King Charles became stepfather to her son and daughter from a previous relationship with Andrew Parker Bowles.

Tom Parker Bowles is opening up about Queen Camilla.

The 48-year-old eldest child of the 75-year-old royal spoke out about his mother’s relationship with King Charles in a new interview.

Tom is the son of Queen Camilla and her ex-husband, Andrew Parker Bowles.

“I don’t care what anyone says. This wasn’t any sort of end game,” he said on The News Agents podcast.

“She married the person she loved and this is what happened.”

Camilla and Charles met back in 1970. Charles later admitted in a 1994 interview that he was faithful to the the late Princess Diana “until it became clear that the marriage had irretrievably broken down.” And two years later, he officially divorced Diana.

He was also asked whether or not there’s any “panic” surrounding Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s coronation attendance, to which he replied: “That has nothing to do with me at all.”

Tom Parker Bowles is sharing his thoughts.

The 46-year-old writer spoke with UK’s The Times on Thursday (April 29) and discussed the possibility that his mother would eventually be called “Queen.”

Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip‘s oldest son, is presumed next in line for the throne. Since Duchess Camilla and Prince Charles have been married since April 2005, there’s a chance she would be given the title once he becomes king.

However, a press release that was shared on Camilla‘s engagement day said, “It is intended that Mrs. Parker Bowles should use the title HRH The Princess Consort when The Prince of Wales accedes to The Throne.”
