WDBJ Shooting Suspect Vester Flanagan Shoots Himself (Report)

UPDATE: The shooter has officially been pronounced dead after shooting himself.

The suspect in the shooting of WDBJ cameraman Adam Ward, 27, and WDBJ reporter Alison Parker, 24 has shot himself, but there are conflicting reports if he is dead or alive.

“State police now say man suspected of killing two WDBJ7 employees shot himself, and he is still alive,” WDBJ updated on their Twitter account.

The alleged suspect, former WDBJ employee Vester Flanagan, was involved in the car chase on Interstate-66.

Vester apparently posted evidence to his Facebook and Twitter linking him to the crime, USA Today reports.

There was a third victim, Vicki Gardner, executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce. She was being interviewed by Alison. She’s injured and in surgery.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims of this heinous crime.

We will continue updating as more information becomes known.
