Alec Baldwin Enters Not Guilty Plea in Response to Involuntary Manslaughter Charges

Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty in response to charges for involuntary manslaughter following the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust.

The 64-year-old actor waived his right to appear in court on Friday, February 24 for a hearing that was previously scheduled. The hearing has now been canceled.

Alec faces 18 months in prison if he’s found guilty. The charge was initially accompanied by a “firearm enhancement” carrying an additional five years in prison. Earlier this week, the enhancement was dropped.

Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is also facing charges for the death of Hutchins, which occurred on October 21, 2021 at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico.

Deadline reports that the judge said today that Alec is “not to hold a gun, drink or speak with potential or probable witnesses in the criminal case unless it is in ‘connection with completing the Rust movie and other related and unrelated business matters.’”
