Chad Kroeger Says He's Done Talking About the Hate Nickelback Gets: 'I'm Over It'

Chad Kroeger isn’t letting the hate towards Nickelback get him down.

The 48-year-old frontman attended the Toronto International Film Festival this week to support the new documentary Hate to Love: Nickelback, which chronicles the band’s success as well as the intense backlash they’ve faced over the years.

While speaking with People, Chad said that he had no intentions of addressing the hatred towards Nickelback moving forward since he considers the documentary the final word on the subject.

Chad was initially hesitant to discuss the criticism, but changed his mind when his bandmate Ryan Peake explained the benefits of including it in their story.

“We get to take the narrative. We get to actually tell our version—it’s like you turn the cheek for as much as you can, and then at some point it’s like, here’s our take on it,” Ryan explained.

When asked about his hesitancy, Chad grabbed the reporter’s recorder, as if he was conducting the interview himself.

“If somebody stuck that thing in your face every single day and said, ‘The whole world hates you like this, the whole world hates you. What do you have to say about that?’ Every single day. Every day. Would there be reluctance on your behalf to talk about it? Would you get pissed off? Would you be over it after a while?” he asked.

“I’m over it,” he continued. “We made a documentary, everybody can watch it. And now from this day forward, if anybody asks that question in the press, it’s like that’s the end of the interview. So if you want to end an interview, that’s all you have to say and that will be it.”

Earlier this year, another celeb defended Nickelback and their music. Find out who here.
