UPDATE 2: The alleged shooter has shot himself after a car chase.

UPDATE: Police are searching for Vester Flanagan, a former WDBJ7 employee, who is also known as Bryce Williams, in connection with the shooting. He was fired a year ago. He reportedly took video footage of the shooting and posted to his Twitter and Facebook accounts.

A 24-year-old WDBJ7 reporter, Alison Parker, and 27-year-old photographer, Adam Ward, were tragically gunned down during a live broadcast on Wednesday morning (August 26) in Moneta, Virginia.

There was a third victim, Vicki Gardner, executive director of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce. She was being interviewed by Alison. She’s injured and in surgery.

The journalists were filming a segment at a shopping center when a shooter opened fire and killed them live on the air, EW reports. No arrest has been made.

WDBJ7 general manager Jeff Marks spoke on air about their deaths, “We do not know the motive, we do not know who the suspect, or the killer, is. We do know that the Franklin County Sheriff … they are working very diligently to track down both the motive and the person responsible for this terrible crime against two fine journalists.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims.
