The outcome of the trial was that Candy was found not guilty of both murder and manslaughter.

During her testimony in court, Candy recounted that she took the axe that Betty had threatened her with after she confirmed she had an affair with Betty‘s husband. Candy said that they had fought, but it wasn’t until Betty shushed her that something in her snapped.

“I didn’t think,” Candy had testified. “I didn’t think at all. I raised it and I hit her, and I hit her, and I hit her, and I hit her.”

While speaking with Extra about the show, Jessica revealed what she thought personally of the verdict.

“I wasn’t in the jury. I wasn’t there. I don’t know…” she said. “It’s fascinating. And we’ll never know the answer. We’ll never know the truth.”

For the series, Jessica adds that “we kind of offer up to the viewers to say what do you think, because we don’t know either.”
