Zoey Deutch & Mom Lea Thompson Are Power Women at Sundance!

Zoey Deutch and her mom Lea Thompson pose for a cute photo while attending a 2017 Sundance Film Festival luncheon celebrating films powered by women!

The 22-year-old actress, who has two movies at the festival this year, co-hosted the lunch alongside Glamour‘s Cindi Leive, Girlgaze‘s Amanda de Cadenet, and actresses Salma Hayek, Jessica Williams, and Alfre Woodard. The event took place on Tuesday (January 24) in Park City, Utah.

Some of the other women in attendance at the event included Elle Fanning, Shirley MacLaine, Michaela Watkins, Michelle Morgan, Sanaa Lathan, and Zoey‘s Before I Fall director Ry Russo-Young.

Zoey spoke to WWD at the festival to explain how doing press there is so much different than for other movies.

“Generally when you are doing movie press, you are holed up in a room and you don’t see sunlight for 13 hours and this is so beautiful,” she said while looking out a window at the snowy scenery.

FYI: Zoey is wearing an A.L.C. sweater and pants.

“He was in the first movie I ever did. I made sure to keep my mouth shut and my eyes open when I was around Sam because he taught me a lot about being a professional actor,” Jon told The Associated Press. “A lot about behaving on set, a lot about being prepared and a lot about life. I got to see him for the first time since we shot that movie and he looks great and it was really great to see him again. It was moving and really nice to reconnect with someone that cool.”

Shailene Woodley Supports Standing Rock at Sundance 2017

Shailene Woodley is bringing the Dakota Access Pipeline protest to Sundance!

The 25-year-old actress helped host a Standing Rock event during the Sundance Film Festival on Monday (January 23) at Zoom Restaurant in Park City, Utah.

Shailene also marched in a protest through the festival grounds, leading to the Chase Sapphire Lounge.

During the event, Shailene called for the festival’s Robert Redford to cut relations with Sundance sponsor Chase Bank, who is funding the pipeline.

“There is a hypocrisy in talking about indigenous cultures but not doing anything, as a non-native ally, to stand with them,” Shailene explained.

Unfortunately, the following day President Donald Trump announced that he has signed orders to move forward with the construction of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines.

Shailene has yet to speak out about the announcement but read what other celebrities have to say.

Kerry Washington Calls On Women To Support Each Other At Sundance!

Fresh from the 2017 Women’s March, Kerry Washington is using her voice to speak up for women!

While speaking to a group of women at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival‘s annual Women in Film Brunch co-hosted by Refinery29 on Monday (January 23), the 39-year-old Scandal star told guests that progress is going to take “courage on all of our parts.”

“Sometimes the people who are in charge of those rooms, they want us to feel lucky to be in the room. And we are because we’re all really blessed to be doing what we do…but that doesn’t mean that I don’t get to bring other people with me,” Kerry expressed (via NYDaily). “Being alone in the room is exhausting…you feel like you have to stand up for the entire gender or race. A woman who shouts out other women? That’s just something we all have to do.”

Kerry also talked about making it a priority to hire other women, people of color and people of the LGBTQ community to work on their sets, adding: “(It’s) making sure people in society who we’ve labeled as other have a seat at the table.”

That same day, Kerry stopped by the Crown Heights premiere at Library Center Theater to show her support for the cast and crew.

FYI: Kerry is wearing Pour La Victoire boots and a Maje sweater.
