Alden Ehrenreich was cast to play young Han Solo in an upcoming Star Wars flick and he’s been keeping busy preparing for the role!

The 26-year-old actor says that his experience with the role has been “trippy,” starting with the audition process.

“The main thing was just getting ready for the screen test. My one screen test was on the Millennium Falcon – which was really cool – with Chewbacca. That was pretty trippy,” he told People.

Alden added, “Getting to be around that world, now I’ve been around the fans a little bit, and just feeling the love, the real genuine love that people have for this franchise, is really exciting to me. And also, just being able to work on this particular movie, with this character…That’s really the pleasure for me, is the job that I get to actually do on the day-to-day level. Yeah, I just can’t wait!”

The upcoming movie Rules Don’t Apply is set to hit theaters later this month and the cast stepped out for the AFI Fest opening night premiere on Thursday (November 10) in Los Angeles.

Sarah Jessica Parker hit the red carpet to support her hubby Matthew Broderick, who appears in the film with the star-studded cast.

Also in attendance were Haley Bennett, Lily Collins, Alden Ehrenreich, Taissa Farmiga, Oliver Platt, Megan Hilty with husband Brian Gallagher, and director/star Warren Beatty with wife Annette Bening, who is also in the movie.

Social media star Amanda Steele also stepped out at the premiere!

Alden Ehrenreich looks so suave for this new feature in Interview magazine’s new issue.

Here’s what the 26-year-old actor had to share:

On his audition for Han Solo: “Well, I had an audition process that went on for a long time, and I got to spend a lot of time with the guys who are directing the film. Getting to be around them and being around the world a little bit has been the main experience so far. I did my audition on the Millennium Falcon for one of my screen tests, which was pretty cool.”

On his dream roles: “I remember pretending to be the characters in the movies when I was a little kid. The last three movies I’ve done, I played a cowboy, then I played a soldier, and now I play Han Solo. So the little kid in me is having a real joyride.”

On dealing with rejection: “I’ve had that experience many, many, times�”when you don’t get roles. I’d developed a good muscle for shaking it off. I buy myself a present whenever I don’t get a role that I really wanted. You get bummed out, and then you go, “Oh! Now I get to go buy a present for myself.” That kind of helps.”

Lily Collins charms in the official trailer for her star-studded upcoming movie Rules Don’t Apply!

The film follow an aspiring young actress (Collins) and her ambitious young driver (Alden Ehrenreich) who struggle hopefully with the absurd eccentricities of the wildly unpredictable billionaire (Warren Beatty), who they work for.

The movie also stars Alec Baldwin, Annette Bening, Haley Bennett, Matthew Broderick, Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris, Megan Hilty, and Martin Sheen.

Rules Don’t Apply will hit theaters on November 23. Watch the trailer below!

The 26-year-old actor was officially introduced to fans as young Han Solo at the event and he was joined by Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor John Boyega on stage.

Also in attendance at the panel were stars Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, as well as Star Wars: Episode VIII director Rian Johnson, and Han Solo spinoff movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

“I read the sides and I loved them. I auditioned for six months. The coolest part was I went on the Falcon for a chemistry test with Chewbacca. It was unbelievable. It was more exciting than nerve-racking,” Alden said (via Variety). It was revealed that he was the first actor to audition for the role!

Lily Collins falls in love with someone she isn’t supposed to in the new trailer for Rules Don’t Apply.

The 27-year-old actress stars as small town beauty queen and devout Baptist virgin Marla Mabrey, who is under contract to the infamous Howard Hughes (Warren Beatty).

After arriving in Los Angeles, she meets her driver Frank Forbes (Alden Ehrenreich), who is engaged to be married to his 7th grade sweetheart and is a deeply religious Methodist.

Their instant attraction not only puts their religious convictions to the test, but also defies Hughes’ #1 rule: no employee is allowed to have any relationship whatsoever with a contract actress.

Hughes’ behavior intersects with Marla and Frank in very separate and unexpected ways, and as they are drawn deeper into his bizarre world, their values are challenged and their lives are changed.

Rules Don’t Apply will hits theaters on November 23rd.

The 26-year-old Hail, Caesar! actor is in final negotiations for the lead role in Disney and Lucasfilm’s upcoming young Han Solo movie, THR reports.

Alden was among 2,500 young men who auditioned for the part and had been on a short list for the role along with Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor.

The movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed 21 Jump Street and Lego Movie.

The young Han Solo spin-off is set to premiere in 2018.
