Derek Jeter is looking back at his nights out in New York City.
While promoting his new ESPN docu-series The Captain, the 48-year-old retired Yankee player opened up about going out and partying back in the ’90s, admitting he’s glad it was before social media existed.

Over a decade ago, Derek Jeter was the subject of a major rumor that he used to give gift baskets full of his New York Yankees memorabilia to women he slept with during one night stands.
An unnamed “friend” of the baseball great alleged in the 2011 article, “Derek has girls stay with him at his apartment in New York, and then he gets them a car to take them home the next day. Waiting in his car is a gift basket containing signed Jeter memorabilia, usually a signed baseball. This summer, he ended up hooking up with a girl who he had hooked up with once before, but Jeter seemed to have forgotten about the first time and gave her the same identical parting gift, a gift basket with a signed Derek Jeter baseball.”

Derek Jeter is gushing about fatherhood!
On Tuesday (May 31), the 47-year-old retired Yankees player decided it was finally time to get on social media, and launched an Instagram and Twitter account.
During his first few hours on social media, Derek shared some updates with fans and followers about how life is going now that he’s retired and living in Miami with wife Hannah Jeter and their three daughters – Bella, Story, and River.

It’s a very big day for Derek Jeter!
The 47-year-old retired Yankees player was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday afternoon (September 8) at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, New York.
Derek‘s wife Hannah Jeter looked so proud as she sat in the audience with the couple’s two daughters Bella, 4, and Story, 2.
Derek‘s parents Dorothy and Sanderson Jeter were also in attendance along with his sister Sharlee and her son Jalen.
Michael Jordan and Derek‘s former Yankees teammate Mariano Rivera also showed their support at the ceremony.
Derek was first elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in January 2020, but his induction ceremony was postponed because of the pandemic.
Derek was elected almost unanimously into the Hall of Fame, except for one writer who did not vote for him.
During his acceptance speech at the ceremony, Derek threw a little dig at that one writer.
“Thank you to the baseball writers, all but one of you, who voted for me,” Derek said as the crowd erupted in laughter.

Mariah Carey has revealed that Derek Jeter was the “catalyst” for her to split up with her ex husband Tommy Mottola, who she married in 1993 before splitting up in 1998.
“Before you divorced Tommy Mottola, you met Yankee baseball player Derek Jeter, and you say he served a very high purpose in your life,” Oprah Winfrey said during Mariah‘s appearance on The Oprah Conversation to promote Mariah‘s memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.” “This was one of those situations of the right person at the right place and the right time. What was it about Derek? He got his own song too, right?”
Mariah responded, “He got his own song. He got a few songs. He was a catalyst that helped me get out of that relationship because I believed that there was somebody else.”
“And honestly, I don’t think it was like, ‘Oh my gosh, he was the love of my life,’” Mariah said. “Like, at the time I did, because I didn’t think I would ever meet anybody who wouldn’t- What’s the word? I used the word, I just thought about this last night. Not looked down on but feel superior to me because of the fact that I’m not one way or another in most people’s minds, and they have preconceived notions, whatever.”
“But he was a catalyst. And I think that it was beautiful,” she added.

The 50-year-old singer is releasing her memoir “The Meaning of Mariah Carey” very soon and she opened up about the book in a new interview with Vulture.
In the interview, Mariah confirmed that she had a fling with Derek and she revealed the songs that she wrote about him.
Mariah wrote in the book that she met Derek at a dinner party near the end of her marriage to Tommy Mottola. She says that they had some “secret” flirty text exchanges and eventually shared “a clandestine kiss” on the roof of his apartment building.
When asked if she can recall the kiss, Mariah told Vulture, “Of course I do! I can never forget that moment. I mean, it’s not like it was some intensely deep, intellectually stimulating — again, it was a great moment, and it happened in a divine way because it helped me get past living there, in Sing Sing, under those rules and regulations.”
Mariah has referred to her home with Mottola as “Sing Sing,” a reference to the prison in New York.
In the book, Mariah confirms that her song “The Roof” was about Derek and that kiss. The other song she wrote about him was “My All.”
Mariah told Vulture that the lyrics “I’d risk my life to feel your body next to mine” were about her “risking her life to have a night with Jeter in Puerto Rico.”
In the new interview, Mariah also opened up about her moment with Ellen DeGeneres that has gone viral amid the controversy involving the talk show host.
