NXIVM Sex Cult Leader Keith Raniere Has Been Sentenced to 120 Years in Prison

Keith Raniere, the convicted leader of the sex cult NXIVM, is going to prison.

The 60-year-old convicted felon has been sentenced to 120 years in prison, Variety reported Tuesday (October 27).

He was convicted back in June of 2019 on the charges of sex trafficking, forced labor conspiracy and racketeering, and was awaiting sentencing.

Prosecutors sought life in prison, while his lawyer was asking for 15 years.

15 victims made statements at the Brooklyn courthouse on Tuesday (October 27), including India Oxenberg, the daughter of Dynasty actress Catherine Oxenberg, who says she was lured into the organization when she was just 19 years old. She recently recounted being physically branded upon intiation.

He was accused of creating a secret female-only society within NXIVM called DOS. In the society, women were reportedly kept as slaves who were assigned to have sex with him and were branded with his initials.

Allison Mack, reported top lieutenant, has been accused of targeting sororities and coercing recruits in another NXIVM lawsuit.

Catherine Oxenberg's Daughter India Reflects on the Moment She was Branded in Nxivm Sex Cult

India Oxenberg is opening up.

The 29-year-old daughter of Catherine Oxenberg spoke about the night she was branded back in January of 2016 in a new interview with People.

In the interview, she was told she was instructed to take off her clothes and walk into a room with a table.

“I had two women holding my hands and my feet so I wouldn’t convulse,” she explained.

She was held down and branded with the initials of Keith Raniere, the leader of Nxivm, described as a “sex cult.”

“I remember the smell — of flesh. I remember crying but not with pain. There was no choice to say no,” she went on to say of the initiation ceremony into the secret sorority, known as DOS.

She had been recruited by former Smallville actress Allison Mack, who would become India‘s “master.”

India and the other women were told the brand was a “symbol of the elements.”

“The circumstances pushed us to our limits, to the point where you would think you were making the choice to get branded,” she explained.

She is telling her side of the story in docuseries Seduced: Inside the Nxivm Cult, which begins airing on Starz on October 18.

“One of my first commands was to seduce Keith. I was told it was an assignment to make me feel less vulnerable,” she said.

“People ask how could this happen but it doesn’t happen right away. It’s a slow drip of indoctrination and grooming,” she continued.

Her Dynasty actress mother came forward in 2017 and went public with her fight to save her daughter.

“I was scared to death but it didn’t matter if I was scared. I knew what I was up against. I knew nobody had dared to do what I was doing because this cult had financially ruined them. I had to save my daughter,” she explained.

“I can’t describe in words how grateful I am for that. Because the truth is, I didn’t see a future for myself when I was there. I was really kind of committed to being there forever, indefinitely,” India said. For more, head to People.com.

Allison Mack Accused of Targeting Sororities in Latest NXIVM Lawsuit

Allison Mack has been accused of targeting sororities and coercing recruits in a new NXIVM lawsuit.

The 37-year-old former Smallville actress has been named as a defendant – along with founder Keith Raniere and other members – in the latest lawsuit.

The lawsuit charges the company with being a Ponzi scheme, illegally experimenting on humans and exploiting female recruits.

According to the lawsuit (via ET), Allison, Keith, and 13 others “exerted power over the plaintiffs; took their money; made it financially, physically and psychologically difficult, and in some cases impossible, to leave the coercive community; and systematically abused plaintiffs physically and emotionally.”

Keith Raniere‘s lawyer Marc Agnifilo said in a statement, “The recently filed civil suit shows that several of the plaintiffs who appeared as witnesses at the criminal trial were less than candid when they testified under oath they were not going to sue raniere. Clearly, these people were motivated by money, a motivation the jury should have known. This will be one of several issues we will raise in court,”

Nxivm Founder Keith Raniere Found Guilty in Sex Trafficking Case Involving Allison Mack

Nxivm founder Keith Raniere has been found guilty of federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges on Wednesday (June 19), according to John Marzulli – spokesman for the prosecutor’s office.

Keith had pleaded not guilty on all seven charges he faced, including racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud conspiracy, forced labor conspiracy, sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and attempted sex trafficking.

His conviction comes after his top liutenant of his sex cult Smallville actress Allison Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and racketeering charges. She will be sentenced in September.

Allison
was accused of recruiting women into NXIVM where Keith reportedly blackmailed women into becoming sex slaves and branded his initials into them.

CNN reports that US attorney Richard Donoghue said that “Raniere, who portrayed himself as a savant and a genius, was in fact a massive manipulator, a con man, and the crime boss of a cult-like organization involved in sex trafficking, child pornography, extortion, compelled abortions, branding, degradation and humiliation.”

Keith is due to be sentenced on September 25 where he could face life in prison.
