With American Idol Season 22 officially confirmed to premiere on ABC in 2024 (find out who’s back as a judge!), we’re looking back at how wealthy the show’s made many of its stars.

Ever since launching the career of Kelly Clarkson all the way back in 2002, the long-running singing competition series has resulted in successful, lucrative runs for several contestants on the show – and many of the biggest names weren’t even necessarily the winners!

American Idol is coming back next month!

The long-running reality TV singing competition series will be back for Season on Sunday, February 18 at 8 p.m. ET, and the three judges have been officially announced, via ABC.

Auditions kicked off last August with the return of “Idol Across America,” the live virtual nationwide search for the next superstar, which discovered last year’s winner, Iam Tongi.

The 41-year-old Chemistry pop star broke down the drama surrounding her hit song “Since U Been Gone,” which sparked a bit of a face-off with label boss Clive Davis.

Kelly spoke candidly about what happened behind the scenes and if she has complicated feelings about performing the hit in 2023.

She also weighed in on the most recent American Idol winners and recalled two really wild bathroom moments that took place during concerts. She compared one of them to Bridesmaids!
