Freida Pinto is hoping her brand new show Guerrilla inspires people!
The 32-year-old actress plays Jas Mitra, the lead in the politically charged six-part Showtime series, about a young woman who joins an underground cell to protest racism in early 1970s London.
“We didn’t think a lot of things were gonna go down the way [they] went down, but maybe in a way, it’s a good thing that there’s an awakening of sorts within the fabric of human society, and maybe ‘Guerrilla’ will be that show that speaks to [people] on a one-on-one level. At least it did for me,” Freida recently expressed (via WWD).
“I’m an activist — not necessarily a political activist, but politics and policies do determine my activism quite a lot,” Freida added. “You know, [actors] are able to channel all our emotions into all these various characters and look into the darkness, the ugliness, the beauty, the nurturing qualities, all of it. So, for me, it’s quite therapeutic.”

Freida Pinto has very little interest in ever playing the love interest to James Bond in an upcoming film of the British spy.
While promoting her upcoming show Guerrilla, the 32-year-old actress shared that she once auditioned to play a Bond Girl after raising to fame in Slumdog Millionaire and has no plans to audition again.
“I’d just come on the scene with Slumdog Millionaire and this is what I hear, is that any actress who just gets their first bit of fame, the Bond rumor is almost like an initiation ceremony,” Freida told Cosmopolitan UK. “It was flattering, but to be really honest I was 24 years old when Slumdog came out and I would have felt totally out of my depth playing a Bond girl.”
Freida went on to say that she would want more in a role than just being the girl that James Bond is attracted to in the film.
“Now I am much more aware of what I want to do in film and what I don’t want to do,” Freida said. “I wouldn’t want to play a Bond girl if she did not have her own voice.”
However, Freida isn’t opposed to gearing up and playing the female version of James Bond if the time were to come.
“Why shouldn’t there be a Bond woman? I think it would be fantastic.”

Freida Pinto is opening up about the scary time she accidentally stabbed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Riz Ahmed!
While making an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote her new mini-series Guerrilla on Tuesday (April 4) in New York City, the 32-year-old actress told Seth about the incident, which happened when she worked with Riz on their 2011 film Trishna.
“In the scene, I get frenzied and I am stabbing him with a knife. So I’m doing it with a prop knife, where the blade retracts, and I’m kind of stabbing the bed,” Freida revealed. “Somewhere in the frenzy they swapped the knife and put a real knife in my hand and they told me stab the bed. But you’re talking to a frenzied actor right now… I got his skin on the side of his rib cage.”
“They came to the conclusion that it would be the frenzied actor (who was responsible),” Freida added. “Not the person who put the knife in my hand!”
