There was a crazy moment during this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest!

Joey Chestnut unsurprisingly was the winner of the annual contest, but wait until you see what happened to him during the competition.

The 38-year-old competitive eater was approached by a protestor in the middle of the contest on Monday afternoon (July 4) at Coney Island in New York City.

Joey put the man into a chokehold while he had a hot dog still in his mouth… and he still won the contest.

Fans of competitive eater Joey Chestnut are concerned for him after a new report was released about the effect that hot dogs can have on your life.

Since his debut in 2005, the 37-year-old Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest winner has reportedly eaten a combined 1,094 hot dogs during the annual contests.

The 37-year-old competitive eater took home his 14th win at the 2021 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Sunday (July 4) at Coney Island in New York City.

Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo are winners again!

The competitive eaters won the 2020 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eat Contest on Saturday (July 4) at Coney Island, New York.

Joey consumed 75 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, setting a new world record. Joey has won the contest 13 times in the last 14 years.

On the women’s side of the competition, Miki ate 48 and a half dogs and buns in 10 minutes, making this her seventh victory in a row. With the win, Miki passed Takeru Kobayashi, who won six contests.

This year’s contest was a bit different from in the past because of the pandemic. The event was held indoors instead of outside, “in a private location with COVID-19 safety measures in place,” according to Major League Eating (MLE), which officially sanctions Nathan’s contest. The competitors were separated by plexiglass barriers while judges sat six feet apart.

It’s the Fourth of July – which means it’s time for the 2019 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest!

The contest takes place on New York City’s Coney Island boardwalk every July 4th since 1916.

On the men’s side, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut took home his 12th win in the contest by eating 71 hot dogs in 10 minutes. He’s now won four years in a row, with his only loss being in 2015 against Matt Stonie.

Last year, Joey set the record at 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

On the women’s side, Miki Sudo won for her sixth consecutive year by eating 31 hot dogs.

Joey Chestnut is going to be competing in his 12th Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Thursday (July 4), and the way he prepares for the competition is a sight to see.

ESPN posted a clip from their documentary, “The Good, the Bad, the Hungry,” showing how Joey, 35, trains to eat dozens and dozens of hot dogs for the contest.

Last year, Joey came in first after eating a record 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes. The year before, he won by eating 72 hotdogs. He has won the title 11 times.
