'Batgirl' Standalone Film In Development From Joss Whedon!

A standalone Batgirl movie could be coming to theaters!

Joss Whedon is nearing a deal to write, direct, and produce the standalone movie based on the DC Comics superhero, Variety reports.

Batgirl is considered one of the most popular fictional superhero characters in the world, but she has never been highlighted on film.

Batgirl originally appeared in the comics back in 1967 as Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon. Gotham is, of course, where the Batman series takes place.

No casting has been announced at this time. Stay tuned!

Chris Pine Puts Congress' Bad Behavior Into Work Place Situations for 'Leonard' PSA!

Chris Pine stars in Joss Whedon‘s latest voting PSA and stars as a tantrum-throwing boss who reflects the bad behavior of Congress.

The 36-year-old actor “stars as Leonard, the human embodiment of today’s United States Congress – he’s dysfunctional, inappropriate, and if he was your employee, you’d fire him.” Also featured are Alan Tudyk, Romy Rosemont, and more.

The Save The Day campaign has registered nearly 50,000 voters through this digital campaign. Joss created the initiative to promote the idea that voting is a necessary and heroic act.

Joss Whedon Is Cutting Ties with Marvel Universe - Find Out Why

Joss Whedon has revealed he has cut ties with the Marvel world in a new video interview.

“I sort of had my finger in all of the films in the second phase but then I just had to concentrate only on Ultron and sort of know that when it was done, I was just going to stop. So I made a completely clean break – not because we had a falling out, just because if I was still there going, ‘Well, here are my thoughts on this film,’ I’d be there every day,” the 51-year-old writer/director said during a talk with the Oxford Union.

“It’s important to me, not just to have my own thing and do something smaller, but also to create a new challenge for myself because I will start to repeat myself,” Joss continued. “I think Steven Soderbergh during one of his ‘I’m retiring’ moments said, ‘I’m finding the same solutions for problems. I found myself in the same way. I need to increase my vocabulary because I’m now at a place where enough people know what I do and I’ve done it enough where I could just sort of vaguely do that, and that is how you become old and obsolete. As an artist … I need to make it harder for myself, so I’m working on a few personal projects that I can’t describe. But I can tell you that they’re really hard, and I’m totally failing, and it feels great.”

Joss has been heavily involved in the Marvel world. He wrote and directed Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. He also created Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Where Was Loki?! 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Does Not Feature Tom Hiddleston's Villain!

If you’re going to see The Avengers: Age of Ultron this weekend, don’t get your hopes up about seeing an appearance from Tom Hiddleston‘s character Loki!

The film’s director Joss Whedon is explaining why Loki has been cut from the film, even though Tom did film a scene for it.

“We did shoot something, but it didn’t play,” he told MTV News. “The movie has so much. It’s so filled. We didn’t want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood the decision that there were now too many voices in the chorus.”

“At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing,” Joss laughingly added.
