Michelle Yeoh Honored with Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Joe Biden

Michelle Yeoh is receiving a major honor!

The 61-year-old Oscar-winning actress received the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Joe Biden on Friday (May 3) at the White House in Washington, DC.

“For decades, and on and off the screen, Michelle Yeoh has shattered stereotypes and glass ceilings to enrich and enhance American culture,” President Biden said during the ceremony. “Her roles transcend gender, cultures, and languages.”

He continued, “From martial arts, to romantic comedies, to science fiction, to show us what we all have in common. As the first Asian actor to win an Oscar as Best Actress, she bridges cultures to not only to entertain, but also inspire and open hearts and that’s what she keeps doing. Congratulations.”

Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, and former Vice President Al Gore also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the nation’s highest civilian honor.

Michelle will next be starring in Wicked: Part One alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, which hits theaters on Nov. 27 – watch the trailer here!

Katie Ledecky Throws Out First Pitch at Nationals Game (Video)

Katie Ledecky winds up to throw the first pitch while on the mound before the Washington Nationals game at Nationals Park on Wednesday (August 24) in Washington, D.C.

The 19-year-old Olympic swimmer handed off her gold medals from the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics to right fielder Bryce Harper.

“We kind of planned that when I got to the park today,” Katie said (via Washington Post. “I proposed that idea and I guess Bryce wanted to be the one that held them, so, it was pretty fun to get out there and have that moment and throw a strike.”

Michael Phelps & Katie Ledecky Recreated Famous Autograph Photo from 10 Years Ago

On Saturday, the 31-year-old swimmer won his record-breaking 23rd Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

Michael and Katie Ledecky, 19 – who has won several gold medals and broken world records during this summer’s Olympics – recently recreated a photo they took 10 years ago.

In the 2006 photo, nine-year-old Katie smiled after getting an autograph from 21-year-old Michael, and in the 2016 photo, Michael was the one grinning as he got an autograph from Katie.

Katie Ledecky heads to her Today show interview on Monday (August 15) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 19-year-old swimmer has won gold numerous times this Summer Olympics, and has broken world records in the process!

“It’s fun to swim fast. I’m happy with how this whole week has gone. It’s never easy to break a world record. It takes a lot of hard work, every day getting in the pool, and giving it my all. It was my last race of the meet here, and I wanted to remember it really well,” Katie said during her interview. Watch below!

Katie Ledecky Reflects on Crying on the Podium in Rio

Katie Ledecky holds onto her four gold medals on her neck while heading to a taping on the beach during the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics on Saturday (August 13) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 19-year-old swimmer joined swimmer Maya DiRado, archer Brady Ellison and shot put gold medalist Michelle Carter at the taping for NBC, where they were seen doing a limbo under the Olympic Rings.

“I’ve had a lot of fun�”I don’t know why I’m crying!” Katie shared after her big win last night, where she shattered her own record. “There were nights when I would go to bed and think about this day and how much fun I’ve had these past four years, and I would start crying right then. I just wanted to make this week count and have fun with it.”

She added, “It’s just been a heck of a week, and I’m glad to be a part of it. It’s a team that I’m always going to be really close with.”

Katie Ledecky Wins Gold in 800m Freestyle & Beats Her Own World Record

Katie Ledecky just took home another gold medal during the 800m freestyle on Friday (August 12) at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Not only is this the 19-year-old Team USA swimmer’s fourth gold medal of the Olympics but she also beat her own World Record!

Katie clocked in at the record-breaking time of 8:04.79, nearly two seconds faster than the previous record she set earlier this year.

Jazz Carlin
of Britain took the silver medal but came in nearly 12 seconds behind Katie. Boglarka Kapas of Hungary won the bronze.

Katie also became the second female swimmer to ever win three individual freestyle events at one Games. Earlier this week, Katie took the gold in both the 200m and 400m.

Katie Ledecky Leads Team U.S.A. to Gold in 4x200m Freestyle Relay at Rio Olympics 2016!

Katie Ledecky celebrates after winning the Women’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay Final during the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium on Wednesday (August 10) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 19-year-old swimmer was joined by her teammates Allison Schmitt, Leah Smith, and Maya DiRado as they won over Australia in second and Canada in third place.

The final time was 7:43.03. Congrats to the whole team!

This is Katie‘s third medal of the games so far, also winning in the Women’s 4×100m Freestyle and Women’s 200m Freestyle.
