“What is interesting about General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna is that he’s a true history character, which I didn’t know obviously because I’m not very familiar with the world of Texas,” Olivier recently expressed about his character. “But I discovered through history books that he was a very fascinating character. Larger than life, charismatic, brave, irrational. I love to play these parts, I love to play characters with a lot of contradictions. He’s good, he’s bad, he’s everything.”

Olivier Martinez picks up some groceries, including his signature baguette, at Bristol Farms on Tuesday (March 17) in West Hollywood, Calif.
The 49-year-old actor will be starring in the new television series Texas Rising and the first episode will be premiere at MIPTV in Cannes, France.
Olivier and his co-stars Bill Paxton and Ray Liotta will be heading to France for the screening on April 13.
Here is a description of the main characters in the show: “Paxton stars as General Sam Houston, a war veteran, former Tennessee governor and commander of the Texas Army. Martinez portrays the flamboyant political and military ruler of Mexico. Liotta plays a deadly and haunted survivor of the Alamo.”
