Samantha Barks to Play Elsa in 'Frozen' Stage Show in London!

Samantha Barks has landed the role of Elsa in the West End production of Disney’s Frozen stage show!

The 29-year-old actress is best known to American audiences for starring as Eponine in the movie version of the musical Les Miserables back in 2012.

Samantha has since made her Broadway debut in the musical Pretty Woman and her new rom-com For Love or Money is now on Netflix.

Daily Mail‘s Baz Bamigboye reported that Samantha is “honored” to take on the role of Elsa. Director Michael Grandage added that she brings “an extraordinary other quality” to the role.

The London production, which will open in October 2020, will feature the new song “I Can’t Lose You,” a duet for Elsa and Anna. The North American touring production will also feature the new tune and the show opens at Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre this weekend.

Samantha Barks looks gorgeous on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Opera’s Opening Night Gala on Monday (September 24) at Lincoln Center in New York City.

The 27-year-old Les Miserables actress, who recently made her Broadway debut, was joined at the event by her Pretty Woman co-stars Andy Karl and Orfeh, who are married in real life.

More stars who attended the event included Patricia Clarkson, Christine Baranski, Blythe Danner, Rachel Dratch, Scandal‘s Katie Lowes with husband Adam Shapiro and their former Waitress co-star Erich Bergen, designer Zac Posen, designer Ariana Rockefeller, and actress Jill Hennessy.

Samantha Barks & Andy Karl Celebrate Opening Night of 'Pretty Woman' on Broadway!

Samantha Barks is all smiles as she hits the red carpet at the Broadway opening night party for Pretty Woman: The Musical held at The Ziegfeld Ballroom on Thursday (August 16) in New York City.

The 27-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-star Andy Karl, as well as Ester Dean, Kirstin Maldonado, Susan Lucci and Debbie Gibson, as they all stepped out to show their support.

Samantha and Andy take the lead in the musical, taking on the roles originally played by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Garry Marshall, the director of the movie, teamed up with screenwriter J.F. Lawton to write the book for the musical before he died two years ago.

Samantha Barks and Andy Karl star in the musical, taking on the roles originally played by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.

Garry Marshall, the director of the movie, teamed up with screenwriter J.F. Lawton to write the book for the musical before he died two years ago. The music and lyrics were written by Grammy Award winner Bryan Adams and his longtime songwriting partner Jim Vallance.

Opening night is on Thursday, August 16.

The guys – Matt Bomer, Zachary Quinto, Tuc Watkins, Charlie Carver, Michael Benjamin Washington, Brian Hutchison, and Andrew Rannells – stepped out for the event which “aims to aid hundreds of NYC shelter animals find permanent homes by informing New Yorkers about the thousands of pets in need in the metropolitan area.”

Samantha Barks Belts Out 'Pretty Woman' Song at Bryan Adams Concert! (Video)

Samantha Barks will be playing the role of Vivian Ward in the upcoming Broadway musical Pretty Woman and she previewed a song from the show at a recent Bryan Adams concert!

Adams co-wrote the music for the show and he welcomed Samantha to the stage at his O2 Arena show in London.

Pretty Woman, based on the 1990 movie of the same name, starts preview performances at the Nederlander Theatre in New York City on July 20 and opening night is on August 16.

Andy Karl is taking on the role of Edward Lewis, the role originated by Richard Gere.

'Pretty Woman' Is Officially Heading to Broadway in Fall 2019!

Pretty Woman will finally make its debut on Broadway next year!

The long-awaited musical adaptation of the hit film will be headed to a unannounced theater in Fall of 2019 in New York City.

Pretty Woman: The Musical will kick off with a five-week tryout at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre beginning March 13, 2018.

The upcoming adaptation will star Samantha Barks, who will take on Julia Robert‘s iconic role, and Steve Kazee in Richard Gere‘s role.

The musical follows a single businessman in need of a temporary wife and the hooker he hires and falls in love with.

The project was originally helmed by Garry Marshall, who unfortunately passed away before he could see the project come to fruition.
