Kerry Washington Explains What She Learned from Anita Hill

Kerry Washington speaks on stage during a conversation with Fast Company editor-in-chief Stephanie Mehta at the Fast Company Innovation Festival on Tuesday (October 23) at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

The event also featured conversations with music mogul Scooter Braun and horror movie pioneer Jason Blum.

During her interview, Kerry discussed playing Anita Hill in the HBO movie Confirmation and what she learned from playing her in the film.

Anita Hill taught me what fearlessness really is,” she said. “She really taught me what sacrifice looks like, and how to maintain your dignity in the face of absolute absurdity. What Anita did was she gave up her anonymity for the sake of our democracy.”

Ariana Grande's Absence From 'F Cancer' Gala Explained By Scooter Braun

Scooter Braun has explained Ariana Grande‘s absence from the 2018 F— Cancer Barbara Berlanti Heroes Gala, which was held on Saturday evening (October 13) in Los Angeles.

Scooter, who is Ariana‘s manager, was in attendance to speak on stage about his wife, Yael Cohen Braun, who received an honor as co-founder of the organization. Ariana was supposed to perform, but did not because of “things that she’s going through.”

“One of the most amazing things about this organization is that they help people when they’re having the worst moments in their life, and they give sympathy and a calm nature to people in need in those moments,” Scooter said on stage (via E! News).

Scooter continued, “And you saw your invite, someone I’m very close to was supposed to come sing for you today, and because of things that she’s going through, she couldn’t be here today. And while I was frustrated, being the manager, my wife, being who she always is, just looked at me and she goes, ‘She needs this time.’”

Last month, Ariana‘s rep said she was taking a break to heal after the events she experienced over the past several months including the Manchester, England terrorist attack and the sudden death of her ex, Mac Miller.

Justin Bieber's Manager Used to Worry He Would Die From 'So Much Crap In His System'

Music manager Scooter Braun went on Van Lathan‘s The Red Pill Podcast and spoke about his client, Justin Bieber, and how he used to worry he would die in his sleep.

“I thought he was going to die,” Scooter said on the podcast about Justin, 24. “I thought he was going to go to sleep one night and have so much crap in his system that he would not wake up the next morning.”

“There was a time where I would go to sleep almost every night, when he had the money to fly away from me, and I was worried every night that I was going to lose him,” he continued.

“I think that he made a conscious choice for himself to change. It wasn’t until one day he woke up and said, ‘Hey, I need to talk to you. I don’t want to be this person anymore.’ He made the decision to change and actually put that into action. The result is who he’s become today,” Scooter added.
