Seth MacFarlane will not be hosting the 2014 Academy Awards, he has confirmed after being asked to reprise his role as host.

“Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again,” the 39-year-old comedian wrote on Twitter. “Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep. However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business. My suggestion for host is Joaquin Phoenix.”

JustJared.com broke the news last month that Seth was asked to host the ceremony again after last year’s producers were asked back to produce the show.

Seth MacFarlane has been asked to return as the host for the 2014 Academy Awards, sources exclusively reveal to JustJared.com.

The 39-year-old Family Guy creator hosted this year’s ceremony to acclaim from many critics, but also caused controversy with some of the jokes he made throughout the show. Despite the controversy, the ratings for the 2013 Oscars ceremony were up significantly over the year before with 40.3 million viewers tuning in.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who hired Seth for this year’s show, will be returning to helm next year’s show as well.

“After defending his performance, the producers reached out to Seth and invited him back to host the show again,” sources close to the comedian tell JustJared.com exclusively. “He’s not sure if he’s going to do it, but he has to decide within the next couple of weeks.”

Seth previously tweeted that he would not host the Oscars if he were asked to do it again. We can’t wait to find out if he accepts the gig!

Despite recent reports that Charlize is dating the newly single Seth MacFarlane, sources close to the comedian tell GossipCop they are not an item.

Charlize and Seth shared the stage when he hosted the Oscars last month and they will work together on his upcoming film A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke and Family Guy‘s Seth MacFarlane have reportedly broken up, according to E! News.

“They are no longer dating,” a source said of the 25-year-old actress and 39-year-old funnyman. “It was really a location challenge. She has been in Europe shooting Game of Thrones and he is based in California, so it was hard to make it work despite the distance. They have remained friends.”

Emilia is currently starring on Broadway in the play Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which opens tomorrow.

Seth MacFarlane is in high spirits in his first sighting since hosting the 2013 Oscars while leaving a friend’s home on Thursday (February 28) in Los Angeles.

The 39-year-old Family Guy creator recently spoke out to say he will not host the show again, even if he is asked back.

“No way. Lotta fun to have done it, though,” Seth tweeted.

The Academy has defended Seth after critics called his material “misogynistic”.

“If the Oscars are about anything, they’re about creative freedom. We think the show’s producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and host Seth MacFarlane did a great job and we hope our worldwide audience found the show entertaining,” the Academy said in a statement.

Kristin Chenoweth and host Seth MacFarlane hit the stage to close the show at the 2013 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 24) in Hollywood.

The pair sang a tune called “Here’s to the Losers” to help console all the people that didn’t win awards during the evening.

“What an AMAZING red carpet tonight! Let’s get this show started! Take it away @SethMacFarlane! #oscars,” Kristin tweeted earlier in the evening.

FYI: Kristin is wearing a Carolina Herrera dress and was styled by Sophia Banks-Coloma.
