Taylor Swift is donating $1 million to Louisiana flood relief following rains that led to widespread flooding in the state this past week, damaging thousands of homes and resulting in the deaths of at least 11 people.
The 26-year-old singer told the Associated Press on Tuesday that Louisiana residents had welcomed her warmly when she started off The 1989 World Tour there last year.
“We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home,” Taylor said in her statement. “The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking.”
“I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time,” she added.
Over 30,000 people have been rescued from the flooding since Friday, according to Fox News.
