Apple TV+ Series 'Lady in the Lake' Pauses Filming After Production Is Threatened with Shooting

Filming has temporarily been paused on the set of the new Apple TV+ series Lady in the Lake.

The upcoming show, which is an adaptation of Laura Lippman‘s novel of the same name, takes place in Baltimore in 1966. It stars Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram, as well as Y’Lan Noel, Mikey Madison and Brett Gelman.

According to Variety, production was halted on Friday afternoon (August 26) after receiving threats of violence.

The Baltimore police department stated that a group of locals contracted producers who were working in the downtown area around 4 p.m. that day. The group threatened to return later in the evening and shoot somebody unless filming was halted, also telling producers to pay a sum of $50,000 before production could continue.

The team behind the series opted to reschedule and look for another location, per the police department. It’s unclear whether filming has resumed since the incident.

Earlier this summer, it was announced that Apple TV+ had renewed seven of their hit TV shows. See the full list of everything that was renewed here.
