John Legend & Chrissy Teigen Discuss Why He Appeared in 'Surviving R. Kelly' (Video)

John Legend is opening up about why he spoke out against R. Kelly in the Surviving R. Kelly documentary.

The 40-year-old “Love Me Now” singer and wife Chrissy Teigen, 33, stopped by on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday (January 17).

When one viewer asked John why he agreed to appear in the Lifetime docuseries when many other celebs declined, John said, “The reason why I did it is, I’m friends with the director, Dream Hampton, and I respect her work a lot.”

“Another reason is that I have good friends who were part of the R. Kelly movement,” he added. “They work with rape victims in Chicago. I knew that I could lend my voice to these people who have been hurt.”

The couple also dished on “secret imperfections” and more insider tidbits about their relationship, their “major blowout” at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian‘s wedding, Kanye‘s Twitter rants, and more.

French Montana Defends R. Kelly: 'Let Somebody Enjoy Their Legacy'

French Montana is taking an unexpected stance and defending R. Kelly amid new sexual misconduct allegations.

The 34-year-old musician recently spoke out about R. Kelly, saying that he has a right to enjoy his legacy.

“They don’t let nobody have their legendary moments. I feel like they did Michael Jackson like that. They did R. Kelly like that. All the greats went down like that. Let somebody enjoy their legacy,” French told TMZ.

He added, “Whatever happened, happened, man. [He went] in the court of law and won.”

French also suggested that R. Kelly‘s behavior shouldn’t come as a surprise with lyrics like, “My mind’s tellin’ me no, but my body, my body’s tellin’ me yes” from his 1993 song “Bump n’ Grind.”

French later clarified his statements on his Twitter, writing, “Let me be clear. My heart is with the victims. I never thought the people I looked up to as a kid, who sang and danced and gave me hope to become a superstar would become drug addicts, child molestors and rapists. I am hoping we as a culture create better leaders. We need them.”

R. Kelly Concert Shut Down By Illinois Officials Following Sexual Misconduct Allegations

One of R. Kelly‘s upcoming concerts has been shut down by Illinois officials in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against him.

The 52-year-old musician was set to perform at Spring Break Jam this April in Springfield, Ill.

A spokeswoman from the Illinois Department of Agriculture told the Chicago Tribune that the application for Spring Break Jam was denied on Thursday (January 10) due to security concerns.

The concerns stem from protests outside R. Kelly‘s Chicago studio following the release of Surviving R. Kelly, the Lifetime docu-series which addresses sexual abuse allegations against the singer.

The spokeswoman added that the event could be reconsidered and approved in the future, but not with R. Kelly on the lineup.

“This is a reminder of women sticking together— and not letting a man take ownership of a great song/ moment… And if anything the message of this song remains that although you may have had my body, you will never have my heart, my voice my life or my mind,” Christina wrote.

“Being a survivor of past predators myself, these lines spoke to me, which is why I did the song. I embrace all survivors of sexual and domestic violence and abuse holding a special place in my heart, and you @ladygaga, for doing the right thing! đź’ś”

Cara Delevingne Addresses Losing Thousands of Followers for Speaking Out Against R. Kelly

Cara Delevingne is not bothered about losing followers after speaking out about R. Kelly, who is back in the headlines after the airing of Surviving R. Kelly, the Lifetime docu-series which addresses sexual abuse allegations against the singer.

“Every time I say something real, something I truly believe, something others may think of as controversial, something that makes people think and ask questions, I lose followers. The followers I lose clearly don’t agree with what I have to say, people that support the ideas and actions of others who are moving backwards and not forwards. In 2019, I want to be more confrontational. Confrontation IS NOT VIOLENCE btw, it’s communication. Something I still struggle with. I have always been taught to avoid confrontation at all costs, which caused me to be silent most of my life, silence causes suppression and suppression causes sickness. Not anymore! Goodbye silence and backwards followers, hello confrontation and forward thinkers. It’s going to be a loud year xxx #MuteRKelly.”

“I finished the Surviving R Kelly documentary last night and I am so shocked and outraged at how long this has gone on. My heart goes out to all the victims of his emotional and physical abuse and their families,” she wrote in her original post.
