Grammys 2021 'In Memoriam' Performance Featured So Many Stars Honoring the Ones We Lost This Year

Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak, Lionel Richie, Brandi Carlile, Chris Martin and Brittany Howard are honoring musicians who passed away this year at the 2021 Grammys.

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, who performed earlier in the night as the duo Silk Sonic, honored Little Richard who died last May at age 87. The pair covered his hits “Long Tall Sally” and “Good Golly Miss Molly”.

Lionel Richie then gave a somber performance of his close friend Kenny Rogers‘ song “Lady”, which Lionel wrote, and “The Gambler”. The country music legend passed away in March at the age of 81.

Brandi Carlile followed with a rendition of John Prine‘s “I Remember Everything.” John died from complications related to COVID-19 in April at the age of 73. She ended her performance with, “We all thank you, John. For everything.”

Brittany Howard and Chris Martin finished the segment with a cover of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” as pictures of Bunny Wailer, Hal Willner, and Jerry Jeff Walker played behind them.

The montage also included Eddie Van Halen, Pop Smoke, Sophie, Charley Pride, Ennio Morricone, among many others.

Here are all the winners from the 2021 Grammys.

Billie Eilish Wins Top Grammy of the Night, Says Megan Thee Stallion Deserved It

Billie Eilish won the biggest award of the night at the 2021 Grammy Awards, but she pulled an Adele and dedicated it to another nominee instead.

The 19-year-old singer took home Record of the Year for “Everything I Wanted” at the event on Sunday night (March 14) in Los Angeles.

Billie said that she was “embarrassed” when she got up on stage to accept the award, alongside her brother and collaborator Finneas, and then said Megan Thee Stallion should have won the award for “Savage.”

You might remember that when Adele won Album of the Year for 25, she said on stage that Beyonce should have won for Lemonade.

Billie said on stage to Megan, “You deserved this. You had a year that I think is unstoppable. You are a queen. I want to cry thinking about how much I love you. You are so beautiful. You are so talented. You deserve everything in the world. I think about you constantly. I root for you always. You deserve it, honestly. Genuinely, this goes to her. Can we just cheer for Megan Thee Stallion?”

After praising Megan, she added, “I really do appreciate this. Thank you to the Academy.”

The award was presented by Ringo Starr and you can see photos of him in the gallery.
