Gisele Bundchen's Rio Olympics Dress Designer Tells All

Gisele Bundchen strikes a pose while attending a Pantene event at the Hotel Royal Tulip during the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics on Saturday (August 6) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The night before, the 36-year-old model walked a massive runway during the Opening Ceremony while donning a gorgeous dress from Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch.

Gisele and Alexandre had worked together in the past, as she modeled for his brand and the company Zoomp in the late 90s.

Alexandre told Vogue he didn’t know why Gisele chose him to design the gown, saying, “I suppose she wanted to wear a Brazilian designer. I didn’t really ask her why. It was such a special reunion. We haven’t spoken in a long time, and we mostly talked about our kids and life these days. Anyway…it was an indescribable and special experience—the whole process, the meetings, and the final presentation.”

He added that he met with her several times during the desgin process and she gave some important input, explaining, “Gisele knows exactly what looks good on her and what doesn’t, which makes the job much more objective and accurate. She was always present in the process. She gave important opinions, and we thought about the parts together. She made some important changes.”

Tom Brady Explains Why He Skipped Olympics Opening Ceremony

Tom Brady flashes a big smiles while taking the field during the New England Patriots Training Camp on Friday (August 5) at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

The 39-year-old football player was noticeably absent from the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony, where his wife Gisele Bundchen walked down the runway for the final time.

“For me, [the Olympics] are right in the middle of training camp so I need to talk my coach out of a couple days of practice,” Tom explained to People in the weeks leading up to the games. “I haven’t asked them so, we’ll see!”

“She loves the country,” Tom added. “She has never forgotten where she’s come from. She’s such a great role model. Obviously she’s my wife, so I’m biased, but I think she is someone that represents her country. I think she stayed really true to her roots. If you came to our house, you’d think we’d been living in Brazil. Everyone around speaks Portuguese. Which I wish I’d learned more at this point.”

Gisele Bundchen Defends Rio Amid Zika Virus Concerns

Gisele Bundchen is speaking out to defend her home country Brazil amid concerns of Zika virus during the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics.

Several athletes and celebs have pulled out of their appearances at the games this year over concerns with the virus.

“I feel that there will always be people judging and criticizing no mater what,” Gisele told People in response to criticism leading up to the games. “I believe that there are different ways to look at things; I always chose to focus on the positive because I believe that so much of what we create comes from what we believe.”

Gisele took to Instagram on Friday (August 5) before her appearance in the opening ceremony to talk about the games.

“The Olympics symbolize so much for our global community. The unity that is felt is amazing and gives me goose bumps,” she captioned the below photo. “There is so much dedication and love the athlete’s themselves pour into their chosen sport. Each athlete has given their all to achieve lifelong dreams and their journeys have led them here to Rio to compete for their countries with pride. The energy is electric and contagious. I am so happy to be part of the opening ceremony in my homeland and to celebrate these bright stars from around the globe. I truly believe that each Olympian lights the path for the next young child dreaming of being at the Olympics and encourages the practice of sports. As I walk down tonight on the longest runway I have ever been on I will be sending out all my love and positivity. I am humbled and honored to be part of this historic moment for my country. I believe that the unity is the key to creating a world filled with kindness, gratitude, peace, and love.”
