Ryan Seacrest Returns to TV After Absence, Makes First On-Air Statement After Stroke Rumors

Ryan Seacrest returned to host Live! with Kelly and Ryan after a whirlwind few hours that had fans very concerned for his health.

It began during Sunday night’s American Idol finale when Ryan appeared to slur his words and his right eye seemed like it could be swollen. Then, Monday morning, Ryan was absent from Live! and fans were convinced he may have had a stroke.

Ryan‘s representatives quickly put out a statement that he was simply exhausted and did not have a medical emergency.

Now, on Tuesday (May 19), he’s back on the air and did not directly address the rumors of a stroke, but did reiterate he was exhausted.

“I want to thank Mark [Consuelos] for filling in yesterday,” Ryan said live on the air. “He’s so good at it, also, all the very kind well-wishes for my exhaustion, working around the clock.”

Ryan Seacrest Did Not Have a Stroke During 'American Idol' Finale, Rep Confirms

Fans believed Ryan Seacrest may have suffered a medical emergency during last night’s American Idol finale when his eye looked swollen and his speech became slightly slurred.

However, a representative for the 45-year-old TV personality spoke out about these fan concerns, saying, “Ryan did not have any kind of stroke last night. Like many people right now, Ryan is adjusting to the new normal and finding work-home balance, with the added stress of having to put on live shows from home.”

Rumors became even more fueled when Ryan took this morning off from Live with Kelly & Ryan.

The rep continued (via People), “Between Live with Kelly and Ryan, American Idol, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, and the Disney Family Singalong specials, he has been juggling three-four on-air jobs over the last few weeks and he’s in need of rest. So today he took a well-deserved day off.”

Ryan Seacrest Absent From 'Live' After Fans Express Concern For His Health During 'American Idol' Finale

UPDATE at 1:00pm ET: Ryan Seacrest‘s representatives have released a statement confirming he did not have a stroke – here’s what his reps said has been happening.

Ryan Seacrest was absent from Live! with Kelly & Ryan on Monday morning (May 18), and some fans are expressing concern for his health.

Kelly Ripa was joined by her husband, Mark Consuelos, for co-hosting duties and said the reason why Ryan was absent today was due to the fact that he was up late for the American Idol finale.

During last night’s American Idol finale, tweets began pouring in after it appeared as if Ryan‘s right eye might have been a little swollen on air.

Ryan did send out a tweet as the finale of American Idol was ending and wrote, “Congrats to our Season 3 winner, @CoJustsam! #IdolFinale.”

Ryan has not posted anything on Twitter or Instagram since last night.

Ryan Seacrest Opens Up About His On & Off & On Again Relationship With Shayna Taylor

Ryan Seacrest took an opportunity this morning (May 1) to talk about his relationship with girlfriend Shayna Taylor.

During the Live! With Kelly & Ryan today, the -year-old TV personality made a point to “happy third anniversary to Shayna” after recognizing his anniversary as Kelly‘s co-host.

“It is our third time together. So we’ve gotten together, broken up, gotten together, broken up. This is number three of being together. So we’re celebrating as well,” Ryan shared.

“It’s an eight-year run, but it’s our third run together,” Ryan added. “So we celebrate each trial…listen, nothing’s perfect. You just keep trying until you get it right.”

He later joked in his conversation with Kelly after she called relationships roller coasters, “You know, when we drive by an amusement park, I always look at the roller coaster and go, ‘Look, there we are’. It’s all definitely upside down loops. It’s no Thunder Mountain, it’s definitely the Mind Bender.”

Just recently, Ryan shared what his holiday plans were with Shayna ahead of the new year.

The Disney Family Singalong: Volume II was just announced and will air on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10th at 7-8pm ET/PT on ABC, with Ryan Seacrest returning as host.

Celebrity guests and performance details will be announced soon. The special, which will also be available to stream on Disney+ in the days that follow, will also raise awareness about Feeding America’s ability to provide for the people in the country who are facing hunger for the first time due to COVID-19.

Ryan Seacrest has a special desk!

The 45-year-old American Idol host revealed that he’s kept a desk from the early days of the hit show in his garage for the last three years, and he’s finally using it as evidenced in a video posted on Wednesday (April 22).

When ABC begins the quarantine edition of the show, he will be filming parts from home using the desk that Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson first used in 2002.

“Hey guys, so we’re rehearsing for American Idol and this desk right here — we’re gonna do the show on Sunday for everyone to be able to vote — this desk is the original desk that Randy, Paula, and Simon had,” he revealed.

“It was in my garage in storage, but I never thought we’d quite use it again, but it’s coming in handy for this Sunday.”

Ryan Seacrest Donates $1 Million Amid Coronavirus Crisis

Ryan Seacrest is making a $1 million donation to aid first responders in New York and Los Angeles amid the ongoing health crisis across the country and world.

The 45-year-old Live with Kelly & Ryan! co-host is donating three-quarters of this money to First Responders Children’s Foundation, which will be used to help house and feed 200 first responders with the FDNY and EMTs, People reports.

“New York and Los Angeles are very special places to me and so I wanted to do something in the immediate to give back in these unprecedented times,” Ryan told People.

“After seeing a news report about first responders sleeping in their cars in New York to avoid putting their loved ones at risk, I wanted to do something to help make sure these New Yorkers stay safe while they’re away from their families busy taking care of ours,” he added.
