Steve Carell Says 'Welcome to Marwen' Role Was Real Challenge To Play

Steve Carell keeps it cool and casual while attending a special screening and conversatioin for his film Welcome to Marwen held at 92nd Street Y on Thursday (December 20) in New York City.

“‘Welcome to Marwen‘ was a challenge because it’s a guy who is suffering from post-traumatic stress and it’s a person who actually has become my friend,” the 56-year-old actor expressed while appearing on Good Morning America that same day. “There’s the added component of responsibility to get it right.”

The film follows the story of Mark Hogancamp, who loses his memory after a devastating attack and recovers through a self-created imaginary world in which he and everyone around him become dolls.

“When you see yourself in doll form there’s a double-edged sword to it because [the doll is] super attractive but way better looking than you are naturally,” Steve joked.

Steve Carell Gives A Big 'No' To Possible 'The Office' Revival!

Steve Carell sits down alongside his co-star Amy Adams while discussing their film Vice on the BUILD Series held on Wednesday (December 19) in New York City.

That same evening, the 56-year-old actor stopped by The Late Show with Seth Meyers and talked about being a rural mail carrier who played along with children’s letters to North Pole back in the day and promoted his latest projects.

Steve recently sat down with Collider and revealed why he has no plans of ever reviving his role as boss Michael Scott in The Office.

“I’ll tell you, no. I feel like I’m a broken record, talking about this because I get asked about it. The show is way more popular now than when it was on the air,” Steve expressed. “I just can’t see it being the same thing, and I think most folks would want it to be the same thing, but it wouldn’t be. Ultimately, I think it’s maybe best to leave well enough alone and just let it exist as what it was. You’d literally have to have all of the same writers, the same producers, the same directors, and the same actors, and even with all of those components, it just wouldn’t be the same. So, no. But, I love the show. It was the most exciting time, and all of those people are my friends. We all love it. It was a special thing. It was a special thing before people thought it was a special thing. It was special to us, before other people started feeling that way. But, no.”

“The fact that other people have found it, over the years, is really cool,” Steve continued. “It’s really flattering that it’s somehow caught people’s attention, so many years later. But, I don’t think you can recapture that same magic. I really think it comes down to that. If it was magic. I don’t want to overstate it. It was just a TV show. I just wouldn’t want to make the mistake of making a less good version of it. The odds wouldn’t be in its favor, in terms of it recapturing exactly what it was, the first time.”

Steve Carell Reveals That a Fan Hit Him With Her Car on 'Ellen' - Watch Here!

Steve Carell makes an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing on Wednesday (December 12), and tells a hilarious story of how one of his most “fun” fan encounters involved a woman hitting him with her car while he was on his bike.

“I was riding and it was a pretty fast road,” the 56-year-old explained to Ellen. “And I made a turn and I didn’t see the car behind me, and they hit me from behind. And so I went up over the handlebars and I — It’s a weird experience because everything just slowed down. And I thought, ‘Well, I’m gonna tuck and roll,’ and I rolled. And I got up and I was fine.”

“And the woman who was driving the car jumped out. She was distraught, obviously. And I went over to her,” Steve continued. “And my bike was sort of stuck under the front of the car and she says, ‘Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Oh, my God! It’s Steve Carell! And she was so excited that she hit me.”

Steve also chatted about how difficult it was to learn to wear high heels for his new film Welcome to Marwen, and imitates someone with a very interesting singing voice – Watch more after the cut!
