Olivia Wilde is set to make her Broadway debut in the upcoming stage adaptation of the classic dystopian novel 1984.
The 33-year-old actress will star alongside Tom Sturridge and Reed Birney in the play, which will have a strictly limited engagement with performances beginning on May 18 at the Hudson Theatre in New York City.
The story of “1984,” which was written in 1948 by George Orwell, follows a dystopian future in which a totalitarian government suppresses all critical thought.
Olivia will play Julia while Tom is taking on the role of O’Brien and Reed will portray Winston Smith, according to Broadway.com.
“Deeply honored, and beyond excited to help tell this terrifyingly relevant story on Broadway this summer. Come check it out! #1984play,” Olivia tweeted after the news was announced.
