Chris Cornell‘s widow Vicky Cornell has revealed that her family has commissioned a statue to be erected in his honor after his suicide.

“I understand everyone is looking for answers that make sense to us. The truth is, it will never make sense. Because it wasn’t meant to happen,” Vicky told the Seattle Times. Vicky hired artist and sculptor Wayne Toth to create a statue that will be placed somewhere in the city.

“He has already given me a design and the children and I love it,” Vicky added. “He is Seattle’s son and we will be bringing him home and honoring him, I hope, with all of you, your love and support.”

Chris Cornell's Wife Vicky Pens Touching Letter Before Funeral

Vicky Cornell, wife of the late Chris Cornell, wrote an emotional letter to her husband ahead of his funeral.

“To My Sweet Christopher,” the Soundgarden frontman’s wife started the letter (posted by Billboard). “You were the best father, husband and son-in-law. Your patience, empathy and love always showed through.”

“You had always said I saved you, that you wouldn’t be alive if it were not for me. My heart gleamed to see you happy, living and motivated. Excited for life,” Vicky continued. “Doing everything you could to give back. We had the time of our lives in the last decade and I’m sorry, my sweet love, that I did not see what happened to you that night. I’m sorry you were alone, and I know that was not you, my sweet Christopher. Your children know that too, so you can rest in peace.”

Chris reportedly committed suicide last week just hours after performing on stage with his band at Detroit’s Fox Theatre.

Chris Cornell's Wife Vicky Releases Official Statement Questioning Cause of Death

Chris Cornell‘s widow Vicky is speaking out one day after his tragic death, which has been determined to be a suicide by hanging.

The Soundgarden frontman’s wife of thirteen years and his family are questioning the medical examiner’s conclusion that Chris, 52, committed suicide just hours after performing on stage with his band at Detroit’s Fox Theatre.

In a statement letter from Cornell‘s family attorney Kirk Pasich and Vicky they say that they are “disturbed at inferences that Chris knowingly and intentionally took his life,” suggesting he may have taken an accidental overdose of anxiety medications.

“Without the results of toxicology tests, we do not know what was going on with Chris – or if any substances contributed to his demise,” the statement continues. “Chris, a recovering addict, had a prescription for Ativan and may have taken more Ativan than recommended dosages. The family believes that if Chris took his life, he did not know what he was doing, and that drugs or other substances may have affected his actions. Pasich adds that some medical literature indicates that “Ativan can cause paranoid or suicidal thoughts, slurred speech and impaired judgment.”
