Kelly Clarkson Addresses the Discussion Surrounding Adele's Weight Loss

Kelly Clarkson is getting candid about the pressures of looks in the music industry.

The 38-year-old Meaning of Life singer spoke out during an interview with Glamour UK about what she’s dealt with from executives, as well as her own journey with self-love.

During the conversation, she was asked about the recent discussion around Adele and her weight loss, and how that affected her.

“I’ve had this discussion with many females in the industry. I felt more pressure from people actually when I was thin, when I was really thin and not super healthy because I just was worn out, just working so hard and not keeping healthy habits. But I felt more pressure. It was more of magazines shoved in front of you and, ‘This is what you’re competing with and we’ve got to compete with it.’ I can’t compete with that. That’s not even my image. That’s not who I am. That’s who they are. We’re all different and it’s okay. I fought more when I was thinner than I do now, because now I just walk in and I just look at them like, ‘I dare you to say something. I’m happy in my life. I’ll work on me in my time!’ she explained.

“Even like you said, with Adele, I saw pictures of her too. I met Adele a long time ago and that girl is like a goddess. I don’t care what kind of weight she’s holding down; you walk in the room and she’s like a force, just physically captivating. If someone wanted to do it for themselves and for their health but that doesn’t change how many times I listened to her record,” she went on to say.

“Honestly, at my heaviest point, I was hired to be on The Voice. I got on the number one television show at my heaviest point, because it was right after I had kids and it was like they didn’t care. Paul hired me from NBC because he loved my personality, he loved that I connect with people and I’m really raw and real. It had nothing to do with my sex appeal or my look aesthetically. It had to do with me as a person. I think it’s really up to artists to force people to have that mentality.”

She went on to explain further about the magazines that were pushed in front of her face.

“Naked! There would be a chick naked on the cover. I’m not joking, literally naked. I was like, ‘unless I’m doing an SNL skit and this is a comedy thing, I’m never going to pull it off.!’ Even in my thinnest, most fit moment, it’s just not my personality to be naked on the front of a magazine. Mind you, my husband will tell you, I am totally okay with nudity. I think it is a beautiful thing. I think all of our bodies, whether you’re male or female, we were very beautiful beings.”

Adele Says Michaela Coel's New Series is the Best British TV Show in Years

Adele is singing her praises for British actress and writer Michaela Coel‘s new series I May Destroy You.

Two episodes have aired so far for the new series, which is airing on the BBC in the UK and on HBO in the US.

The show centers on “Arabella (Coel), a carefree, self-assured Londoner with a group of great friends, a boyfriend in Italy, and a burgeoning writing career. But when her drink is spiked, she must question and rebuild every element of her life.”

Adele took to Instagram and wrote, “I May Destroy You is the best thing I’ve seen on British TV for yeaaaarssss!! Go watch it on iplayer right now. It’s wholesome, uncomfortable, hilarious but terribly sad and then awkward…and then it makes you cough a bit for no reason and also makes you go put the kettle on, for no reason. You might pretend you need a pee and then you get a bit itchy, then it makes you ask your girls things you haven’t before. And then makes you want to run out in the street and laugh so hard like mad til you cry for absolute hours! I’ve never felt so many emotions at once! Absolutely fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Michaela Coel bloody SMASHED it 💫 Pro 👏🏻 found ♥️.”

Michaela gained lots of fans with her series Chewing Gum and she also starred in the Netflix series Black Earth Rising. Go catch up on the new series now!

Adele Honors Grenfell Tower Survivors on Third Anniversary

Adele is sending her love to the survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire.

On Sunday (June 14), the 32-year-old entertainer shared a message of support during a virtual memorial on the third anniversary of the deadly London fire, which claimed the lives of 72 people.

“I want to send my love to all of you today, and let you know that I’m thinking of you, as I always do,” Adele said via People. “Even though we’re having to do this in the virtual world, online, on 2020 Zoom life as it is, it’s still so important for us to mourn together and for us to remember that night and to reflect on that and also reflect on where we are now with that.”

While reflecting on the current state of the world, Adele stressed that it is important now more than ever that we come together as a community.

“There has never been a more appropriate time for us to truly exercise camaraderie, and compassion, and open-mindedness, and persistence. Persistence for answers. Persistence for action,” Adele said. “It’s a scientific fact that human beings are pack animals, we’re not supposed to be left on our own. We need each other to survive, and that is something that I truly see in action with the Grenfell community.”

Back in June 2017, the 24-story apartment tower caught fire around 1am the night before and London firefighters fought the blaze for over 10 hours.

Over the years, Adele has sent lots of love and support to the survivors.

“I’m so sad that we’re not all together today because although it’s always a very somber event when everyone gets together, it’s also beautiful and the kids are running around — I can’t wait to hear all about them,” Adele continued. “And I know that before the anniversary next year that we can all do that and I can’t wait. I can’t wait to be there and I can’t wait to see all of you.”

“I miss you all, I can’t wait to see you all and like I said, I’m thinking of you today more than ever. Stay safe, say healthy,” Adele concluded.

Adele Speaks Out About George Floyd's Death in Powerful, Emotional Instagram

Adele is not staying silent on George Floyd‘s death.

The 32-year-old musician headed back to Instagram for her post, and called for the movement against police violence not to get “disheartened, hijacked or manipulated right now.”

“George Floyd’s murder has sent shockwaves around the world, there are countless others that haven’t. Protests and marches are happening all over the globe simultaneously and only gaining momentum,” Adele started, alongside a picture of him. “So be righteously angered but be focused! Keep listening, keep asking and keep learning!”

She went on, “It’s important we don’t get disheartened, hijacked or manipulated right now. This is about systematic racism, this is about police violence and it’s about inequality. And this isn’t only about America! Racism is alive and well everywhere.”

“I wholeheartedly stand in solidarity with the fight for freedom, liberation and justice ♥️.”

Adele‘s posts follow countless other celebrities breaking their silence after a weekend of protests, anger, and frustration.
