Donatella Versace Opens Up About Her Friendship With Lady Gaga

Donatella Versace is on the cover of Attitude‘s January 2019 issue, out on December 6.

Here’s what the Versace icon had to say…

On her views on Donald Trump: “It’s scary, it cannot go on like this. And I know for that, in my position in fashion, we can still have a conversation about politics. It’s so horrible. This is like going back to the past, looking back in history. We live in a very scary moment for our freedom, for the freedom of everybody. So, this is a moment to talk about it and say, ‘Guys, listen’: don’t be seduced by what you think is a strong man. That’s not a strong man; that’s a weak man using those words to put fear in you.”

On Lady Gaga and the song “Donatella”: “I adore her. The song arrived quite a while after we first knew each other. Gaga is a very emotional person, she’s very insecure, which I like about her. Every true artist is insecure. We’ve become good friends and we talk so much. I’m so happy about the movie. A Star Is Born. I went to the premiere with her and she was crying. I said, ‘Enough of this crying. Smile, you’ve made it.’ I hope she wins an Oscar.”

On growing up amongst the gay community: “Yes, [I was always] around gay men. But not only gay men, but by artists, real artists: people who left a mark on history. I mean, I met Andy Warhol. I don’t think of him as just a gay person, these people are artists. I had the privilege through Gianni [Versace] and through the gay community to meet intellectual people: to become accustomed, to be educated, to learn about the culture. I was a normal classical girl who went to school and studied history, which I loved as you can see in this house, but my mind was always a clash between this and what was around pop culture and high culture and history.”

Lady Gaga Reaches Out to Katy Perry After Calling Her 'Mean' in Text Messages to Kesha Amid Dr. Luke Legal Battle

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are reaching out to each other.

After text messages from early 2016 that were sent between Kesha and Gaga regarding Katy‘s refusal to speak out regarding Kesha‘s accusations made against Dr. Luke were released via court documents on Friday (November 30), the “Born This Way” singer is now addressing those messages.

“@katyperry & I have grown up in the industry together. We’ve gone through both celebrations & differences w/ each other. These are old texts. We’ve matured, gotten over the past, love each other & share deep respect. Katy is my friend and is truly a kind soul. End of story,” wrote Gaga.

“Love you too friend. Onward and upward,” responded Katy.

In the newly surfaced text messages, Kesha discussed Katy with Gaga: “was crying a lot today and needed my mom. I’m really upset with Katy Perry…she could bring the whole thing to a head but she won’t,” she wrote.

“She is probably really afraid to lose everything. U are really strong standing up to him, she’s not as strong as u yet,” Gaga replied.

“your [sic] right. I need to find sympathy and empathy for her. she’s so mean. it’s hard,” wrote Kesha.

“Do u want me to see if I can talk to her. I know she’s mean. … She makes me angry about s–t [but] I just try to have empathy for her,” replied Gaga.

Dr. Luke has maintained his innocence and has decried Kesha‘s “repeated efforts to manufacture facts” in a recent statement on Thursday (November 29).

Lady Gaga Opens Up About Wanting to Be an Actress Before Becoming a Singer - Watch!

Lady Gaga is opening up about her career!

The 32-year-old A Star Is Born actress and “Born This Way” pop superstar sat down as part of The Hollywood Reporter‘s actress roundtable Close Up series.

“I wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a singer and a musician. This is a big dream of mine. I felt really excited and really ready for this part,” she explained of taking on A Star Is Born.

“For me, for many years, I have created characters for myself because I did not make it as an actress, so I made characters that I could be, so I could be one, and they were always in some way related to the woman that I wanted to sing to – a part of me. Like for my album Joanne, I always had this vision of a woman with a baby in one hand, and a Pinot Grigio in the other and cut-off jeans – her hair wild and in a bun, just singing her butt off and going ‘I never thoguht I’d like Lady Gaga, but man, do I love this music.’”
