Patton Oswalt finally has answers about the tragic death of his wife, crime writer Michelle McNamara, nearly a year after her passing.

The 47-year-old actor and comedian revealed that the coroner’s officials informed him that Michelle passed away from a combination of prescription medications and an undiagnosed heart condition.

“We learned today the combination of drugs in Michelle‘s system, along with a condition we were unaware of, proved lethal,” Danny explained to THR.

He went on to say that the blockages, combined with her taking the medications Adderall, Xanax and the pain medication fentanyl, lead to her untimely death.

Patton Oswalt Reveals Late Wife Michelle McNamara May Have Accidentially Overdosed

Patton Oswalt is opening up about the tragic loss of his wife, crime writer Michelle McNamara.

The 47-year-old actor and comedian sadly discovered that she passed away in her sleep this past April, and there’s still no official cause of death.

“I have a feeling it might have been an overdose,” Patton told the NYT, citing that she took Xanax. “That’s what the paramedics there were saying while I was screaming and throwing up.”

He says that was the second worst day of his life.

“The worst is when I told my daughter the next day,” Patton said.

Now, he is determined to finishing his late wife’s work.

“We can finish the book, but it was tangential to the work, which was: She was going to solve this crime,” Patton said. “In comic-book terms, I was married to a great crime fighter.”

RIP.

Patton Oswalt Addresses His Grief in Touching Note for Late Wife Michelle McNamara

Patton Oswalt wrote a touching piece after the sudden death of his beloved wife Michelle McNamara on his Facebook.

The 47-year-old actor addressed the grief he still feels after she passed away in her sleep in the middle of the night this past April.

“Thanks, grief. Thanks for making depression look like the buzzing little bully it always was. Depression is the tallest kid in the 4th grade, dinging rubber bands off the back of your head and feeling safe on the playground, knowing that no teacher is coming to help you,” Patton wrote. “But grief? Grief is Jason Statham holding that 4th grade bully’s head in a toilet and then fucking the teacher you’ve got a crush on in front of the class. Grief makes depression cower behind you and apologize for being such a dick.”

“Michelle McNamara got yanked off the planet and out of life 102 days ago. She left behind an amazing unfinished book, about a horrific series of murders that everyone — including the retired homicide detectives she worked with — was sure she’d solve. The Golden State Killer. She gave him that name, in an article for Los Angeles Magazine. She was going to figure out the real name behind it She left Alice, her 7 year-old daughter. But not before putting the best parts of her into Alice, like beautiful music burned onto a CD and sent out into the void on a spaceship,” Patton continued, “And she left me. 102 days into this.”
